A red sun rises,
Blood has been spilt.
Dawn creeps in to find
A pale thigh gashed by guilt.

Trickles of ruby red,
Sparkle in the sun.
Silver sliver still in hand
The proof of battles hard won.

Hard won in that,
No death came today.
Sleeping survivor still draws breath
Small victory begins the day.
