All sound does fade soft as the night descends
But still a storm of thoughts brews deep in mind
Seduced by darkness from walls hid behind
They rear back ugly heads and do distend

Larger and stronger they grow to what end
Leaving such sorrow in their wake unkind
Until all is black and my fate resigned.
And in they go once more locked up and penned

My courage falters again and again
Always no danger but unvoiced desires
So heartache remains and drives me insane

Futile it feels though my smile I maintain
Through every heart thorn prick of red rose briar
Peace slow comes past wishes whispered in vain
