I have no idea where this came from. A childhood head injury, one too many frat parties, too many drugs, not enough metabolism. Hell, at my age, I probably had a stroke.

Think 'Yesterday" by the Beatles as sung by Weird Al Yankovic.

Leprosy, never heard of it before today.
Now I have it so the doctor's say.
Oh, they believe I have Leprosy.

Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be.
There are pieces falling off of me.
Oh, Leprosy works quite quickly.

Who'd I get this from?
From some bum, it's hard to say.
It was a rash he implied.
So he lied, it's Leprosy.

Leprosy, it gets worse almost by the day.
I'll be lucky to see my next birthday.
Oh, Leprosy is quite deadly.

Where'd my left ear go?
I don't know, it's gone away.
Have you seen my nose?
Or my toes, blame Leprosy.

Leprosy, it's quite contagious so they say.
Now I think I need to hide away.
So no one else gets Leprosy.

At first I thought James Michner's "Hawaii" really got to you. It did me...

But then, I thought, "this person lived his life in a hospital setting," and I remember lunches with others of our "family," which produced confusion. Lastly, I considered the possibility that this could be the case for you, producing angst and sadness.

In any case, the poem is morbidly creative! Thanks for sharing. 4🌟
