Gnawing emptiness that stretches for miles
It conceals the angry voices hidden behind my smiles

Amid searing heat and whipping sand
Danger and Cactus dot this vast land

Yet no voices greet my desperate calls
Only eerie echoes as befitting a dim hall

The sand sucks at my feet and invites me deeper
But I resist and move on, the terrain growing steeper

The desolate landscape keeps me captive
And still I struggle to live

Like a flower stripped of its blooms
My heart is an empty room

Like a widening crack in the earth
I struggle to find my worth

There’s no escape from this terrain
Only wilted cactus in this parched plain
