i want to use these hands
for my own work
i want to build dreams
-that have no use
other than to exist
that create a spark
of radiance
never observed on a battlefield-
i want to smith
and move metals
that will never depict
the art of war
and to reinvent
beauty to be just as valuable
as destruction
.
i want my aesthetic to be
just as necessary
as his war hammer
because fear
and fight
have stolen
tangibility
.
i want an arsenal
of art
not made to slaughter
or to defend
but to welcome
and inspire
to light fires in hearts
instead of to bodies
to lift up life
instead of death

well, well, well, will you look at you and your smart ass...

in a month filled with the usual, and all too common, scenes of american violence, you come out here and slip past the literotica gatekeepers this anti-war, anti-gun, pro-life piece that's not only powerful in message but a goddam fine bit of well written poetry as well.
