The muse is willing so I take her hand
And let her whisper gently in my ear,
Commit my ramblings to this sonnet here,
And laugh at how inadequate I am.
Her bitterness, familiar as the taste
Of come in the mouth the morning after;
Scowling at my disrespectful laughter.
"Was all that time we spent last night a waste?"

Her furrowed brow is a delightful sight.
For often doth she vex me just the same
"I carried heaven's power for you to write."
Says she, "Why scorn my bountiful delight?"
Says I, "Love! share it with me once again?
This time, I have my motherfucking pen!"
