True Love?

Are we all meant to have a lasting love
Someone sent from the Gods above
Someone to spend the rest of our lives with
Or are soul mates just a myth
My hopeful heart wants to believe it's true
But my broken heart believes I'm a fool
To think there's one person out there
The rest of our lives together we'll share
Is it someone who completes me
Or someone who pushes me
I've seen all the memes
That detail the person of my dreams
Is she just a fantasy
How do I make her a reality
I know I have issues I'm working on
They keep me awake from dusk til dawn
Things like fear of abandonment
Or as simple as taking a compliment
Life hasn't always been easy
I'm still learning about the person that is me
I've loved in the past
But it never lasts
Because people come and go
Leaving only these tattoos to show
So will I ever find someone to love me for me
Someone who understands when I get clingy
Someone that I understands when I push away
Who will hold me close and choose to stay
I know I'm a handful and asking a lot
But I've learned from the lessons I've been taught
So I don't know if love is true or not
But the hope I have is all I've got
If I'll get my chance remains to be seen
Until then, I'll be the most loving person I can be
