i mentioned this poem in the New Poem Review thread in the Poetry Forum - wildsweetone

that the huge cage is symbolic of the sheer amount of sorrow and pain, but it seems like a lot of space for the demon to roam. A small cage would make him want to run (a smaller cage with a thousand bars?). I like the style of this poem, but the metaphor leaves me wondering.
