)With apologies to Thoma Love Peacock)

The mountain wives are fleeter,
The valley wives like batter;
We therefore deemed it meeter
To carry off the latter.
We made a awift incursion;
We met our foes, and fought hard;
We saw the opposition,
And killed them in their yard.

On Dyfed's richest holding,
Men of might carousing,
Heeded not the warning,
And fell to our slaying.
Drunk warriors failed to stop us;
We met them, and killed them:
They staggered drunk to fight us;
But we slaughtered them, all of them.

The valley wives are better cooks,
The mountain wives are fittest,
The valley wives have better looks,
The mountain wives not quitters,
Serving both is quite a task,
We grow plump as a placid cow,
Eating well and fucking fast,
Who’s the better fighter now?
