The only issue (and you are not alone here) is the confusing use of the word conscience...

PLEASE, I'm begging you, get this right! Conscious is a state of wakefulness while conscience is the moral sense of right and wrong...

This misuse screws up the entire paragraph when used...

Beautiful prose with flawless segue throughout. I really liked the way you had Jaime's handling of Georg when he started to press her for further involvement. Also love the fact that you refrain from using vulgar language. Can't wait to read the next installment . . .
