A much better closure than the original. The wife essentially bragged about what she did. She figures she is beyond earthly justice and wants forgiveness to get justice in eternity. What God decides to do is up to God but her husband is well entitled to deny her any forgiveness. He really can't do much to a dying woman but he very nicely tore down her reputation at the funeral. He should have had "Whore" put on her tombstone.

A fantastic ending much much better than the original, why should she get away Scott free with her faithfulness for the whole if their married life. This way she doesn't get the forgiveness she craves and dies knowing her husband hates her, the community also get to know what she was really like plus the wives of those she tucked over the year's.

After 46 years of mariage I over heard my wife talking with one of her sisters and her daughter and two of her daughters and their daughters. Congrats. Well written as usual. Four out of five. I liked the scene with the wife, even tho I am not usually a BTB fan. But I question the logic of speaking to the congregation rather than dealing with the other men and the priest privately. Speaking to the congregation reveals to all that he has been cuckolded. The original story gave no closure with its ending. In this one ,wasn't the dying wife's confession to the priest enough? Did he have to insist that it be written down and given to the husband?(Which would probably been after the wife's death,so the part with him blasting his wife about it wouldn't have happened) And with all those people knowing about her cheating,not one of them thought to mention it to the husband prior to that letter? (To rub it in,gossip,give sympathy,whatever.) ~ The best ending would have been for the husband to never know,but then,there goes the story.

Not being given any information on how their lives were, or what their medical conditions were when they were married, or even what their frame of mind was, I can see the overwhelming evidence against her, and understand most of the comments. could I as a guy father a child, let alone 4 of them to someone else, and not be there, let alone not care. then live with someone else my whole life. it is a good story, just by looking at the comments. People do things for a reason, maybe not all good reasons, but do them anyway. What the story left out, was that reason. there seems to be a purpose in that. Everyone is quick to judge other people and paint the worst picture possible. The fact that the reason was never stated, leaves an open book to any reader, and the comments reflect that.

Before there was DNA testing, the only way to tell if the wife cheated, was maybe blood type, or a different color showed up, or the wife told hubby. I read this before, but I have always been fascinated with it. Why, does it matter? He was obviously fucking his wife, as he thought the kids were his. I don't think he could have any kids, and to make him feel complete she had kids that he would believe were his. The fact of the matter is that she was a self absorbed whore. She chose him as a husband because he was safe, earnest and loving. She chose to fuck around simply because she enjoyed sex from more than one man.
