Interesting characters and plot .
I really like this story but I do have a little question. In the first chapter you said that the Rei-sa weren’t that much larger than an average human (I know Shaes smaller than average) but that moment when Shae mistook Xiac’s dagger for a sword makes me think they’re bigger than I thought. How big are they roughly?
@Jodoro - Rei (their homeworld) is about 65% earth gravity. Because of that they're kind of spindly and dont normally stand up completely straight (bent knees). Under their normal posture they range between 6 and 7 feet, but if they stand up straight they get between 8 and 10. Most (but not all) of that extra height is in their legs and not their torso. Their arms are similarly a bit longer than human arms. Theyre naturally a fair bit stronger and this is exaggerated because most of the Rei-sa on the expedition are military types.
I love the effort into providing some details on linguistics and having occasional words not in English. I love Shae's thoughts and reactions as well.
