Wow that was a hard slog to read. Like a masochist wet dream for in-effectual cucky husbands. Still i find one believable fact from this story that applies in life. Most people when face with divorce and loosing everything, or giving up the familiar comfort of there past marital lives; will stick in an untenable situation until they either mentally break and are cowed or snap and cant take it anymore and would willingly divorce and loose everything than spend another day in marital hell.

A 2 1/2 to 3 page story that would never end.

Everyone who does one of these train wrecks literally, word for word, writes the same delusional wife speech over and over again, the first page felt like ground hog day.

Couldnt make it through it so Im guessing it became the dumpster fire I saw coming.

Weak and contrived dialog. Main c was also extremely weak. In the real world the words he spoke to himself or muttered quietly would have been spoken out loud. He had numerous chances to hammer her with words and ALWAYS passed up the opportunity, not realistic. He also could Have charged her with attempted rape. Overall not a good effort, Far too wimpy, he just goes along with her actions and continually places himself in harms way. This author must take lessons wimpy men from G Anderson or MMoraeu or maybe R Goerge. It was like this character fell out from the story another love. Just terrible

Weak like the main character. The cliches of the wife presenting her weak husband with an admission that she is cheating and is going to continue to do so are just tiresome at this point. There is nothing clever about this story nor is there any juice to any of the characters.

Same worn out speech about how if hubby divorces her she will ruin him financially and hubby just gives up and puts up with her cheating. I live in the most liberal hell hole state in the Union and these canned speeches are wrong. There is no legal obligation to support or pay for children's tuition and expenses after they are 18. He may choose to do so; he may also choose to tell them he no longer can afford those costs because their mother's ongoing and unapologetic adulterous conduct has forced the divorce which in turn has resulted in huge financial disruption. He cannot afford to keep supporting them; let Mom pay.

There is also no legal reason why she keeps the house. The kids are adults and the house is an asset of the marriage; if this bitch wanted to keep the house, she would have to pay hubby's share of the fair market value or the house gets sold and proceeds split. (Obviously things are very different if kids are minors; then husband in this situation would get screwed on the house and child support).

Alimony? Maybe she gets something for a few years but it is not usually a lengthy burden. And I know a number of family law judges who have told me that they do take into account ongoing adultery in awarding alimony. Of course they never say anything about it, but they definitely trim alimony to a cheating spouse and if the cheater has the higher income he/she is going to pay more.

But ultimately, how could anyone take the shit she handed out to this guy, no matter the cost? Divorce needed to be filed immediately if she refused to stop the cheating; I would have divorced her skanky ass even if she had stopped.

P.S. Why do these wimpy characters always moon on about how they still love her despite her cheating?

The comments from Anonymous--especially the long comment--were good and appropriate. However, I think that each story should be judged on it own merits and not on the basis of similarity with other stories. Are we. really looking for creative writing here in LW? Well, yes, to some extent. But, basically, we look for an act of adultery and then read how the other spouse reacts. Sure there are cliches; and sure, there are similar reactions. That is because of our common humanity and similar life experiences. We look for the reaction, the retribution, the anguish. Our sense of self-worth is reinforced by the reaction we would hope to engage were we in a similar circumstance. This story is worth at least a four and probably a five.

It was a little too long, but it was more realistic/real world than most of the stories on here. Personally I would have divorced her back on page 2, and I doubt I would have taken the bar tenders advice, as all that did was add to the hurt Brody was feeling. She kept harping on the "it won't change anything between us", but she didn't realize it already had. After 20 years together, most spouses learn to "read each other", and can tell when they're feeling good, or when something is wrong or off. Either Brody wasn't paying attention during those early months, or he just didn't understand what was going on. In Amy's case, she was feeling euphoric on the days she saw Cody, and more normal on the days she didn't see him. Brody should have picked up on that, those days. I do understand at her age her hormones might be off (menopause), but there was no mention of it. Not to mention she thought she had the upper hand with her plan. She didn't think it all the way thru, like being served her walking papers at work, in front of her co-workers or Cody getting fired, or even herself getting fired (morals clauses).

It would have been a good story if the author hadn't done what a lot of authors do and that is drag out the story with unrealistic dialog between the MC's. The author has written Amy as a delusional women whose character just wouldn't exist in real life unless they had some serious mental or emotional problems he constant dialog between the main characters is an unrealistic mechanism to attempt to manipulate the emotions of the reader but in reality it just annoys readers because it's totally unreal.

The story itself was compelling, however the only problem I had was the confrontation in the classroom. I don’t care how big and strong you are, a well placed kick to the balls is the great equalizer. I would have had the MC drop Cody with a ball kick Finkle would be proud of, then a well placed straight punch to the nose.

The level of "wimpinesh" in the first 5 pages is way too much to be entertaining read. It could be the case that some males would put up with this sort of situation but my guess is that most would not. The author is squeezing every last drop of this but he has nothing to add other than repeating absurdities of the situation.

I thought this story lacked revenge aspect. It seem you have bit of wimpy streak in your writing. If I was to confront that S.O.B. who was fucking my wife, he would have in no uncertain terms be told that he better leave town or something may happen to him when wasn't looking at any time or place.

I think that most people who go the route of "great sex is most important" the way this wife did, even to the point of trying to use it on her husband with another woman, have probably always thought that way. In the long run, sex is what you make of it and not the novelty of this experience or that partner over another. I doubt she would ever have been happy no matter how the story turned out.

There's far to many of these delusional wife stories once you've read one you've read them all the only thing that changes are the character names. They all seem to be written for the women hating trolls and domestic abusers who read them. I'd like to read one of these stories where the husband goes straight to a lawyer and starts divorce proceedings so that the delusional wife really understands what she's risking. The husband doesn't necessarily have to have to go any further with the divorce. The story could then deal with the aftermath from both sides.

I frequently re-read this author's few stories. One piece of constructive criticism would be that his climaxes/denouements, whatever you want to call them, are not very strong. Kind of sneak up on you but leave you a bit unsatisfied.

My dignity and self-respect would have been worth far more to me than any money I'd lose in a divorce. I'd have moved to the guest room the night she told him she was cheating. I then would've had the attorney write up the papers the next day and have her served the next week. Granted, waiting until her and her friend tried to rape him gave him the leverage to keep her out of the house after she was served but he didn't know that was going to happen.

You managed to redeem this story when he finally dumped the slut but the run up was painful. This husband has to be one of the biggest pussies on the planet. Why try to save a marriage when you partner is a trashy slut with no redeeming qualities.

This guy was a loser for 5 out of 6 pages. His responses were idiotic, inarticulate, and mostly just name calling. Compare this to “Just Words.” No contest. He needed more information. He got it. He had no ability to use it. Same old same old with his responses. Oh, and the superstition portion with the church going, yessiree, the big man in the sky will punish her. Then, of course, the wife’s evil ways made her into an old harridan. Yikes, this story pulled out that cliche, punishment from above. While I have berated it, I still thought it was a 3.5, Because it kept me reading even if the MC irritated me, and I upped to a 4 since 3.5 isn’t an option.

He should have contacted the school when he found out and put in a complaint. That would have made or broke it then and there. He also should have had a little to do with her in the house as possible and slept on his own. A very good description of a very sad situation, which unfortunately is all too common. Once trust is destroyed it is almost impossible to rebuilt.

From that point the reader knows we have yet another weak cunt of an LW husband character. Yes, he finally divorces the cheating slut, but only after he is practically raped. Prior to that he was the usual weak, needy, hardly male character more worried about the monetary consequences of a divorce than principle.

I feel like I am in the wrong place wen I read the comments. I like most of the authors of the stories I choose to read, but many of the other readers seem to hate them. The hate seems almost sadistic like they hate the authors that don't try to make everyone characters life full of meanness and hate. I think this story sounds real. IT shows just what happens when cheating occurs. What is sad, and it is also true the other way, but when a man really loves a woman, and she basically loves herself and wants what she wants no matter how it hurts him that he disgusts readers e he does not go ballistic on her. Well the fact is that a giving caring husband that understands giving love is unlikely to commit horrendous acts of revenge. hat does not mean an immature man, that does not mean he is weak. What a mess of a story. She cheats and, using the sunk cost fallacy, he wants to save the marriage. He gets bad advice at a bar and then at the bar from an incompetent attorney. Then he meets her lover and is himself seduced, saying "I found myself unable to dislike this guy." But for some bizarre reason, she brings in a hooker to try to seduce her husband. If she just wanted an open marriage, this would have been a far different story, but, never mind, this is too much for him and the marriage ends. In a final twist, it turns out she was a vampire sucking the life-force out of him and she shrivels and begins to die upon his departure. I guess that makes it a BTB story. SMH
