"Wonderful!" Sadie replied. "Juniper and Ivy's isn't far from the museum, and I just happen to have a reservation there at nine!"

"Oh, I've never eaten there!" Bree Ann answered, her nerves beginning to relax as she began to feel excitement building within her.

"Well, you're in for a treat," Sadie announced. "The chef there is absolutely fantastic. I know you're a meat-eating, southern girl, and I've heard people rave about their New York Strip."

Bree Ann smiled at that, feeling her stomach growl at the thought and reminding the mature, auburn-haired beauty that she'd been too worked up earlier to eat supper. Bree Ann knew that Sadie was a Pescatarian, the slender blonde abstaining from the flesh of animals, though she did enjoy fish.

"Does their menu have anything for you?" she asked, concerned for Sadie's eating pleasure as well.

"They serve an Alaskan halibut that is to die for," Sadie replied. "It comes with the most delicious clams, too."

Bree Ann felt an instant sense of anticipation and excitement. She was going to do this, actually going to do it! And that realization, more than anything, served to lift the anxious funk that she'd been in over the last few days. Who cared if her friends back home didn't understand, and Bree Ann's sisters would just have to accept the new her if this led anywhere. Because for the first time since Jon had died, Bree Ann felt genuinely alive, and she wasn't going to deny herself the chance to see where this might lead. The widow would follow her heart, even if it led into uncharted waters because Bree Ann was starting to believe that was really the direction where her future happiness might lay.

"Then it's a date!" Bree Ann said purposefully, her heart swelling in her chest at having been brazen enough to do so.

"Lovely!" Sadie replied, the sound of her excitement apparent to Bree Ann. "I'll see you Friday at six then."

"Goodnight, Sadie," Bree Ann said, hugging herself with her free arm while she salaciously wondered what it would be like to be wrapped in Sadie's arms.

"Night, Bree," Sadie replied.

The call disconnecting, Bree Ann stood, the sounds of her girls and grandkids from the playroom reaching her ears. The mature auburn-haired beauty's mind was elsewhere, though. It was on a slender and sexy blonde who had revived in her feelings that Bree Ann had long thought dead and gone.

Wine forgotten, Bree Ann went in search of her vibrator...

CHAPTER FOUR

Thursday flew by, and before Bree Ann knew it, it was Friday. She spent the morning with the boys. The pair were beginning to take their first steps, their chubby, little legs still shaky and unsure. Little Aaron had beat his older brother and been the first to walk, Jonathan catching up to him two days later. So it was a constant battle for Bree Ann to chase after them as they pulled up on furniture before deciding to wobble across the playroom, often crashing to the ground with sometimes comical results.

Of course, her mind was often on tonight's date, her thoughts going to Sadie and what it would feel like to be on a date with the sexy blonde. Bree Ann had observed Sadie with the women she'd dated on many occasions. They'd all been significantly younger than the therapist, though, some of them as much as half her age. And from Bree Ann's perspective, Sadie had never seemed to take them seriously, the slender blonde treating them more like sexual partners than actual girlfriends.

Would she treat Bree Ann differently?

The girls knew she had a date tonight, but Bree Ann hadn't told them who it was with, not even Kaia. But the widow thought the cocoa-skinned beauty might have suspicions as all the girls had seemed to sense her excitement over this date, marking a dramatic change in how she had approached her other potential suitors.

Skyler returned from shopping for groceries just after the noon hour, her hands filled with countless shopping bags as Bree Ann exited the playroom with the twins in her arms.

"And how are my sweet baby boys?" Skyler asked in a high voice, as she kissed each of her little men on the neck, the action causing them to squirm in Bree Ann's arms as they giggled.

"They've been good, though Jonathan seems to think it's the height of hilarity to tackle his little brother every time Aaron decides he wants to take a stroll," Bree Ann replied.

"Maybe he'll be our little football player," Skyler said with a smile, as she set the grocery bags she held up on the island and began to remove items from the bags. "Have you decided what you want to wear tonight?" she asked, her eyes coming up to look at her mother.

"No," Bree Ann replied. "I haven't really had a chance with these two."

"Where is he taking you? The locations will probably help you decide how you need to dress."

Bree Ann couldn't help but smile at her daughter's question, nearly bursting to announce that "he" wasn't taking her anywhere. She kept quiet, though, not wanting to spoil the surprise when Sadie showed up to pick her up.

"We're going to the museum to see the new impressionist exhibit, and then afterward, we have late reservations at Juniper and Ivy's."

"Wow," Skyler replied, "you need to dress somewhat formally then. If you want, once we get the little monsters laid down for a nap, I can help you pick something out."

"That would be great," Bree Ann replied, smiling inwardly as she wondered how her daughter would react later once she realized she'd helped her mother dress for a date with a woman.

Once Skyler had put the groceries up, she breastfed both boys and then put them down for a nap. Once the two women were sure the pair were asleep, they grabbed the battery-powered receiver to the baby monitor and retreated downstairs, heading for Bree Ann's room and her expansive closet.

They spent the next half-hour going through the widow's closet, looking for the perfect dress. They finally settled on an emerald-green, off-the-shoulder, satin cocktail dress with a Balconette bodice and corset-type boning, the sleeves draping elegantly off Bree Ann's upper arms. The dress hung nicely on the sexy widow's shapely hips, and the slit in it showed just the right amount of her left leg. The color was a perfect match to go with Bree Ann's auburn hair and golden skin tone.

Bree Ann stood in front of the mirror, looking at her reflection and liking what she saw. Her exposed shoulders and collar bones looked almost regal, and her large breasts presented nicely, the tops of them exposed for all to see.

"Are you sure it's not too much?" Bree Ann asked modestly. "My boobs are nearly crawling out of the top of this dress."

"It's perfect," came the sound of a voice behind them, Bree Ann and Skyler turned to see Kaia standing in the doorway to her room. "I think your date will absolutely love it," Kaia added, the twinkle in her eyes telling Bree Ann that she'd already guessed who that might be.

"Really?"

"Without a doubt," Kaia replied, stepping into the room and pulling Skyler to her feet, the two younger women's lips coming together in a loving display.

'Will I soon be being kissed by Sadie like that?' Bree Ann wondered, the thought of it causing her nipples to harden and making her feel all warm inside.

"Ooo, I think your outfit is missing one thing, Mom," Skyler suddenly said excitedly before scurrying from the room. Bree Ann turned to Kaia when she was gone, studying the cocoa-skinned beauty carefully.

"You know, don't you?"

"I guessed," Kaia answered with a smile and a shrug. "You've been acting entirely different since yesterday, lighter and happier as if a weight had lifted off your shoulders. I just assumed that you'd finally managed to answer that question."

"Do the other girls know?" Bree Ann asked.

"I haven't said anything. I will admit, though that all three of us have been waiting on you to figure out how you felt about Sadie," Kaia replied.

"What? Why didn't you girls say anything?" Bree Ann said with surprise.

"We knew it was something you'd need to come to in your own time. Plus, we were afraid that you'd fight against the notion if we brought it up," Kaia answered. Then laughing, she added, "Although we did have a plan to start dropping hints to lead you to the realization if you didn't come to it soon on your own."

"Has it been that obvious?" Bree Ann asked, bringing her hands to her reddening face.

"To Lisa and me," Kaia said with a nod. "Skyler finally saw it last week, and that's when we started scheming ways to get the two of you together."

Bree Ann marveled at her girls and the care they were willing to take to see her happy but was impressed by their restraint even more. Kaia was right. Bree Ann would have likely balked at any suggestion she was smitten with her best friend, particularly before the events of this past Saturday.

"Think they'll be surprised?" Bree Ann asked, cocking an eyebrow.

"Oh, yes," Kaia replied with a mischievous grin, just as Skyler returned out of breath. She held in her hands a couple of items Bree Ann hadn't seen in decades, the sight of them making the mature, auburn-haired beauty blush.

Skyler held a black garter and a pair of sheer black stockings. Bree Ann's mind immediately returned to a time just before she'd gotten pregnant with Skyler. She and Jonathan had snuck off to New Orleans for a long weekend alone. Her husband had taken Bree Ann shopping and purchased her a little black dress and a similar pair of garters and stockings to wear on their trip. It had been a wonderful weekend, the memory of it causing the widow to flush and her heart to ache momentarily for the memory of her dead husband.

"These are a must, Mom," Skyler said, handing the belt to her mother before dropping to her knees and beginning to roll up one of the stockings. "Slip on the belt so we can see how good you look."

Bree Ann leaned down and slipped her feet through the item, sliding it up her long legs and over her hips. Bree Ann then twisted the belt into position before sitting down on the edge of her bed and holding a leg out to her daughter. She watched as Skyler began to roll the silky stocking up her limb, amazed at the soft feel. Bree Ann took hold of the stockings from her daughter once Skyler got it above her knee. Pulling it up the remainder of the way, she attached the sheer gossamer material to the belt. The pair then repeated the process on the other leg, with Bree Ann standing to get their opinion.

"Put on your heels," Skyler declared excitedly, apparently enjoying playing dress-up with her mother.

"Okay," Skyler replied, laughing at her daughter's apparent exuberance. She stepped into the three-inch, black heels Skyler had already selected and then held her arms out to her sides, looking at the pair expectantly. "Well?"

"Oh, Mom," Skyler said, "you look beautiful."

"Stunning, Bree Ann, your date is going to be blown away," Kaia added earnestly.

Turning to the mirror, Bree Ann took in her visage, and even she had to modestly admit she looked good. Bree Ann wasn't sure she'd looked this pretty in a dress since the day she'd walked down the aisle toward Jonathan on their wedding day.

<~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>

Skyler saw the car pull up, the auburn-haired beauty rushing to the door to meet her mother's new suitor, Macey, on her heels, with Kaia watching knowingly from a distance. She checked her hair in the mirror as the doorbell sounded, sweeping her long locks out of her face before stepping up to open the front door.

Kaia would later say that the look on her lover's face was priceless when she saw Sadie standing there holding a single red rose. The pretty blonde was elegantly dressed in a black, cinched-waist midi-dress; the bandage material hugged her slender frame sexily, accenting Sadie's understated curves. The V-neck neckline exposed the tops of her smaller breasts, the stretchy material encasing and lifting them nicely.

"Sadie!" Skyler said, surprise dripping from her reaction.

"Can I come in?" Sadie asked, with a grin that told Kaia she was enjoying Skyler's reaction.

"Yes!" Skyler said excitedly, as she took Sadie's arm and stepped aside to allow her inside. "You look beautiful! I love your dress!"

"Thank you," Sadie replied. "I hope you're mother thinks so, too."

"Oh, I bet she will," Skyler said, practically bouncing on the balls of her feet.

"Hello, Ms. Macey," Sadie said to the little girl peeking out from behind Skyler's back. "It's good to see you again. Where are your little brothers?"

"They're taking a late nap which we're going to pay for later on," Skyler announced with a sigh. "They're both teething and cranky, so I enjoy my peace when I can get it."

"A mother's work is never done," Sadie said. "Speaking of mothers, is yours almost ready?"

"Lisa has her upstairs putting the final touches on her hair," Skyler replied.

"Why don't I go up and let her know that you're here," Kaia said, mounting the steps and beginning to ascend.

When they were alone, Sadie said, "She didn't tell you it was me, did she?"

"No!" Skyler replied, her eyes narrowing. "And she's going to hear about it later on tonight! She's getting sneaky in her old age."

"Easy now," Sadie said with a laugh. "She's just a couple of years older than me."

"A year and a half to be exact," came the sound of a soft feminine voice from the top of the stairs.

Skyler and Sadie's looked up. There, standing at the top of the stairs, was Bree Ann in her green dress, Lisa and Kaia flanking her. Her auburn-colored hair was twisted in an updo, exposing her graceful-looking neck. Lisa had lent her a pair of earrings that dangled from her ears, the diamonds in them sparkling in the sunlight that shone through the sizeable oval-shaped window high up over the front door.

A suddenly shy-looking Bree Ann descended the steps, reaching the landing at the bottom where Sadie stood waiting for her. Skyler couldn't help but think how the pretty blonde looked smitten as she drank in the sight of her mother.

Bree Ann met her date's gaze, and in Sadie's eyes, the auburn-haired beauty saw just how beautiful she looked. There was a hunger there that Bree Ann had previously only seen in a man's eyes, but it was hunger all the same. And that realization stoked a fire between Bree Ann's thighs and released a fluttering of activity in her stomach.

"You look absolutely gorgeous, Bree," Sadie said softly, reaching out and taking the auburn-haired beauty's right hand.

Her touch sent a shock racing up Bree Ann's arm and straight to her heart; the middle-aged grandmother suddenly felt twenty years younger as she stared back at Sadie.

"Thank you, and you look beautiful," Bree Ann replied, heat rising up on her face and chest.

"We'd better get going, the master impressionists await us," Sadie suggested.

She held out her arm, offering it to Bree Ann, the mature, auburn-haired beauty took it, and the two women made their way to the door. Bree Ann waved goodbye to Macey, who smiled as she watched the scene intently, as the pair walked out the front door.

Once they were gone, the child was the first to speak.

"Does this mean that Mimi has a girlfriend now, too?"

CHAPTER FIVE

Sadie got out and came around to open up Bree Ann's car door, offering her hand to the auburn-haired beauty and helping her out of the car. The pretty blonde then interlaced her fingers with Bree Ann's, the mature couple making their way towards the restaurant.

"I requested one of their outdoor tables when I made the reservation," Sadie said. "I thought we could take advantage of these beautiful stars."

Beside her, Bree Ann felt so light that she thought she might float away if Sadie let go of her hand. At first, she'd been nervous, their ride into the city helping her loosen up a little. But Sadie had been absolutely perfect. The pretty blonde had been attentive and sweet without forcing the issue, giving Bree Ann time to catch her bearings and finally relax.

Their time in the museum had been elating, Bree Ann and Sadie marveling at the works of the masters, the two women taking their time with each painting. Bree Ann had experienced such depth of feeling while viewing the masterpieces. Each one had invoked a different emotion inside her, the images coming to life through Sadie's knowledge of each one and its history. Bree Ann's date, as it turned out, had minored in art history while in college. A detail that the auburn-haired beauty hadn't known. Bree Ann couldn't help but wonder what other mysteries she'd uncover about the pretty blonde as time went on.'.

"That sounds wonderful," Bree Ann replied, loving all the thought that Sadie had put into making their date perfect.

Sadie opened the door to the restaurant and held it for her date; Bree Ann stepped inside and felt Sadie's left hand settle on her hip. Her touch sent a thrill through the beautiful widow, Bree Ann, seeming to mark each new milestone in her strange but thrilling new world.

Sadie gave the hostess her name and told the young woman that she had a nine o'clock reservation. The pretty young brunette looked down her list and located Sadie's last name, grabbing two menus and leading the couple out onto the restaurant's covered terrace. Sadie once again showed her gallantry by holding out Bree Ann's chair before taking her seat across from the auburn-haired beauty.

"So tell me, Bree, what was your favorite piece at the gallery?" Sadie asked, picking up her menu.

"Oh, the Degas, for sure," Bree Ann replied with a dreamy look in her eyes. "The ballerina just made me feel young again. It reminded me of when I was a girl and took ballet."

"You were a dancer?"

With a laugh, Bree Ann said, "I was! And I wasn't bad, either. I stuck with it right up until I became a teenager."

"Well, well," Sadie said appraisingly, "what other secret talents are you hiding?"

"I'll never tell," Bree Ann replied coquettishly, blushing as she did.

"Why did you quit?" Sadie asked her.

"Because I soon figured out that ballerinas didn't have boobs, or at least not ones as big as mine," Bree Ann said with a laugh. "I got tired quickly of having to tape them down for each recital."

"Well, I would imagine so."

"What was your favorite?" Bree Ann asked as she read her menu.

"I loved them all," Sadie said softly, setting down her menu. "But I really love the one by Monet. There's just something about the lighting in it that makes me feel something profound. I can't really describe it. Seeing it was kind of like seeing you standing at the top of those stairs with the sunlight catching you just right. It was breathtaking and enlightening."

Bree Ann looked up from her menu, her breath seeming to catch in her throat, her heart suddenly racing a mile a minute. There was nothing but sincerity on the beautiful blonde's countenance, Sadie staring back at her with an open expression that spoke of how deep her feelings for Bree Ann ran. The auburn-haired beauty felt her heart swell to nearly bursting, her panties beginning to moisten as a throbbing heat sprung to life between her legs.

Their waiter arrived, and the two women placed their orders, with Sadie selecting a red wine for Bree Ann to go with her steak, ordering a glass of white for herself.

When the waiter was gone, Bree Ann bit at her bottom lip for a moment before saying, "When did you know?"

"Know what?" Sadie asked, looking at her with curiosity.

"That you wanted to ask me out."

"Ah," the pretty blonde said with a smile. "I've always known."

"Really?"

"Of course," Sadie replied. "I was instantly attracted to you in that first session we had together. I just couldn't do anything about it because you were my patient."

"So what took you so long?" Bree Ann asked teasingly.
