We all carry raw, animalistic strains within us, and war brings out the worst. It was those destructive seeds that made the Jewish holocaust possible and made the same Russians who liberated Auschwitz rape the German women later. Until the Fourth and last Geneva convention of '49 signed following the Nuremberg trials, civilians had been seen as the spoils of war. So these children and women were not only their winner's trophy but also a masculine way to get even with the German men. Men don't perceive rape as something which can equal effective murder, or worse in some instances. Int'l law, which is presently so outdated, began paying attention to the matter only very recently, following the trials on Rwanda.

Btw, there was a disturbing film about Jewish women from the concentration camps consensually continuing their fucked up S&M sexual relationships after the war with the Nazis who had been raping them brutally during the war. So yes, we have raw sexual instincts as well. And a disturbed mind and ruined soul easily distorts the border between right and wrong. Also, we are habitual creatures.

I am glad you wrote this story for several reasons: as you said yourself not many people are aware of this part of ww2; to show that the cruelty of ww2 was a failure of humanity, not just a German problem. For most countries involved the only positive legacy of the war nowadays is the lessons learned. But the "never again" talk hasn't really worked. As we are speaking women are still getting raped in conflict zones around the world. Some 'civilized' US soldiers are raping Iraqi and Taliban girls. Most of them will go unpunished. As you see, humanity has a long way to go until we become civilized, even in the West.

The setting is remarkably well done. For the more literate readers I recommend this author's source (Eight Weeks in Berlin) and the movie made from it which came out in 2009.

If Frau Schneider achieved love and sexual satisfaction - compared to the original author's resignation to a situation far better than most women caught in Berlin (the chief Nazis committed suicide or - more of them - fled to the West leaving the women to deal with the Russians, who had much to be pissed off about) well, this is Literotica. These atrocities did indeed occur, but no woman enjoys being raped. Declaring that a woman would find sexual release when being savaged by some animal is an insult to the many millions of women that have indured such a violation. You should be ashamed to have written such things.

When I first read “Martha Hillers,” first edition book in 1973, it was in English and not in German! But I was shocked and surprised at the brutality of the mentality of Russian Soldiers towards German women! The book as we know now was printed in 1953 years later the fact. ! And when it did come out many ignored it or hated It. In fact the general population called the unknown author a “Whore with little imagination,” and was greeted negatively! When I first read her account in the early 70s in Germany I was so shocked I felt my hatred of Russians grow. “ Hillers account of A woman in Berlin” itself was protested by many East Germans as not being factual as well as ignored by Russians living in Ast Berlin.

In 2008 the book was adapted into a movie and it (the Movie) isn't as graphic but gives any viewer a self indulgence of how those women paid the ultimate price of German culture!

It's not a surprise that the author wrote this as an anonymous memoir of the invasion and capture of Berlin in the weeks of 20 April to June 1945! . And as the story goes she identifies herself as a victim by explaining the redundant idea of soldiers relaxing by self indulgence of sex and rape and German women having to be forced. to accept all kinds of sexual acts of carnage; I was shocked when my sister-in-laws mother told me of when American Soldiers took Hitler’s Alpine town in Berchtesgaden, 1945, that many Bavarian girls –summiteers to American soldiers much in the same way and those women paying that price of a losing side.I don't think we kicked in doors hunting for sexual opportunities? Or forcefully grabbing women off the street while on lookers did nothing? This shows an evil axis that is as guilty as the Nazi’s, if not a grotesque fact of war! As an American Soldier that served 38 years in the military I am glad we have changed this as the leader of the free world our Army n not guilty of mass raping a culture. As one that has spent most of that time in Germany I’m glad of certain standards and the Geneva Convention rules. When I deployed to Desert Storm in 1991, I left from The old airport of Rhein Main, Germany. That year was 1991, And after being in Saudi Arabia I was transferred to the US Embassy, Kuwait. And after soundly defeating Saddam’s troops in 1991, I’d often hear stories from many Kuwaiti military officers, telling how the Iraqi troops raped females remaining in the city after the mass evacuation to include rapes and mass murder of females belonging to third country nations. In Iraq more than a decade later Americans I heard tales of other atrocities of killing and rapes that happened in Abu Ghuraib prison near Baghdad, Iraq.

In 2003, 2 years after Hillers death, a new addition was of the book was published in German and met with wide critical acclaim. In September 2003, Jens Bisky a German literary editor identified the real name of the author! The author tells a helpless true tale of what German females experienced. Most of which we can't image! Today the new thugs of Syria are using the same mythology!
