This story reads in part like a grotesque caricature: "horse-faced," "slime," "red dewlap of flesh." But it also presents a realistic encounter with a unique individual---not airbrushed to movie-star perfection like so many fantasies here. I really like the way you've drawn her so thoughtfully---from James's point of view, we don't know what she is really feeling---in one short page. I've know women like this, who have their handicaps, but also their attraction, who set themselves out on the field of battle, truly wanting what every woman wants, knowing that the odds are against them.
I just hope that Jeannie comes to appreciate that love is a two-way street, that she has a lot to give, that the love she takes is equal to the love she makes.
