In addition, they know a lot of words and many phrases in many other human languages such as the East European Slavic languages, Russian, German, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese, among others," Hanalei explained.

"They also love to play tricks with languages. For instance, they will tell you that they are geniuses with a capital 'S'," Hanalei snuck in.

"But genius is spelled with a 'G'," Kriss responded.

"Are you telling us that there is no 'S' in genius?" Junelliya laughed, getting a grin from Kriss.

"OK, I see your point," Kriss responded. "Are they really like that?"

"Oh, yes, they are very playful and love to poke fun at things, though they do have an innate sense of when they can play games and when they cannot," Sylvie explained.

"It sounds like I will have a good time with them," Kriss remarked.

"You are their nanny, so you will be with them almost exclusively," Violletiya interjected. "But other than being a nanny, your main task is to protect them. As a result, you will be required to do early morning exercises with the family. We meet early each day with the other bodyguards and their principals when we are available on Liramor Twenty-Three. We work out together and we teach the children to protect themselves. The children have excellent physical coordination; however, they lack the power that comes with age and growth.

"They are currently in the upper percentile of the height range for children their age, but they are not quite two years old. That is one reason they need the extra protection," Violletiya finished.

"Right, Ikekiya is only twenty-two months old, while Zarreniya is two-and-a-half months newer than her much older sister," Hanalei informed Kriss with a smile.

"Oh, they sound like a darling pair," Kriss commented, smiling.

"Don't be fooled by their demeanor, Kriss. Those two are rather impish and have a penchant for finding trouble," Fayad advised. "They are good kids but trouble seems to look for them and they do not yet know how to avoid it. That will be your number one priority security wise, keeping them away from and out of trouble."

"Understood. But, given these children, that sounds like a tall order," Kriss responded.

"We understand," Junelliya replied. "It will take you time to get to know them and the children to get to know you, but you need to establish certain ground rules immediately with them in regards to responding to danger. I advise you to see what Kim will suggest about that. She is one of the best personal bodyguards in known space. She will give you her advice freely if she finds you competent, but she will put you through the wringer before she decides to believe in you. You are not going to enjoy the first few sessions with her."

"Sounds like my last Mixed Martial Arts instructor," Kriss murmured more to herself but the others heard it and gave each other knowing grins.

"We will be going to see the grandparents on Anura next," Fayad explained. "They have not seen the children since before the incident. Both they, and the children, could be quite emotional from this reunion."

Kriss gave a nod of her head. Yes, with such a tight knit family, it would probably be a very emotional reunion...

PV The Trine set down on its designated spot as directed by the tech on the ground, who then pressed an anti-static probe against the body of the ship, which flashed a large discharge into the ground and the electrical recovery units.

From inside the ship, the family could see the large group of people waving as they waiting for the hatch to open. The children recognized their grandparents, uncles and aunts, and their cousins of various ages. They were excited to exit the ship but they didn't get the chance as the group crowded the ship as soon as the 'all clear' came from the tech on the ground.

No sooner had the hatch opened then the group surged into the ship. Weeping grandparents hugged and held tight to the two children and adults, just as Fayad had predicted. Kriss stood back and took it all in as the children were hugged fiercely by each of the grandparents, uncles and aunts, and cousins in turn.

"Mother, Hama (Mother-in-law can be singular or plural), I would like to introduce to you our new nanny, Kriss Klassen, also known as Krissiya. She is a GME who specializes in young children coming into their powers early and will also be their protector as she is a qualified bodyguard," Fayad introduced the family.

"Unfortunately, she is lacking in civilized behavior," Junelliya elaborated to the fact that she didn't speak nor know of the polite phrases of High Andanii. She gave Kriss a wink in passing.

"Good day to you all and thank you for allowing me to be included in your family reunion," Kriss said to the family with short bow. She got smiles of appreciation from the senior members of the family.

"Teach her well, Zoga (daughter-in-law)," Ikekia Houll, the First Wife of the House of Ouihya told Junelliya with a smile.

The extended family then left The Trine and went to a nearby restaurant for dinner where they caught up on what was happening to everyone. Everyone was excited, especially the Cats who had a plethora of children to play with. Ikekiya and Zarreniya were enjoying themselves immensely, speaking with all of their grandparents, their uncles and aunts and their cousins. It made for a great afternoon on Anuura. Eventually the family had to depart. Everyone got hugs amid promises to return soon. Then the Piscium family was escorted back to their ship for the departure.

The family was home and Fayad contacted Resource Management (RM) to get Kriss sorted for her stay on Liramor-23.

"We have a new nanny with us who has to go through the safety brief and learning to live on a space station," Fayad explained to Diane Ancien, the head of RM (formerly Human Resources).

"OK, you can send her over right now, as we have nothing going on at the moment. She will have to go through the safety brief and orientation. If she fails either, she will not be permitted permanent residence," Diane informed him.

He brought Kriss to RM personally and left her in their care as he went off to start his shift at Central Control.

"Hello, I am Diane Ancien, head of Resource Management. I will leave you in the care of Maria Fontenette, who will be your direct link to my office. If you need our assistance, she will be the person you call," Diane introduced the two and then left for her office.

"So you are now booked on the next Safety Orientation Course and the Living on the Station Course which start in two days time. These two courses are a week in duration and are half-days, so you do one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. If you fail either, you will not be permitted to remain permanently on the station, so study hard and take the lessons to heart. These programs can and will save your life and the lives of your charges," Maria explained. She then took Kriss around the station to show her the highlights and to explain some of the issues she needed to learn immediately, especially the locations for the escape pods should they be necessary to use. The tour was thorough but short and they soon wound up back at the Piscium family apartment. Kriss was pleased to see the hatch snap open as she approached it but not so pleased by what she saw inside.

There were at least two dozen people in the apartment, only a few of which were human. Kriss stood at the door, momentarily surprised, until the children came to collect her. They each took a hand and guided her inside to introduce her to the others.

"Ah, Kriss, I want to introduce you to Oshiiru Kimiko, known as Kim. She is the lead of all the bodyguards on the station and works exclusively for Liea Samson, who is one of the co-owners of PV The Wanderer and our personal friend," Junelliya stated, pointing Liea out. "Beside her is Gillaya, who is our resident sexpot and the bodyguard for Raymond Clark, the other co-owner of The Wanderer," Junelliya pointed out Raymond.

"You will be the nanny/guard for the children?" Kim asked pointedly, getting a nod from Kriss. "I will personally assess you tomorrow during our exercise session. If you fail, I will not let you near the family."

Kriss' eyebrows rose at that statement, but she noted that neither Junelliya, Hanalei, nor Violletiya refuted the comment. She was then introduced to the many non-humans in the apartment, including an Asocan Princess, a Byandi Princess, and some of the members of the Pod-Drran family next door.

"We often come over when we smell the family cooking," Caye-Ur explained.

"Mind-Ur is our Phrat Marti, our senior female and head of the House. I am the head of the House of Ur Trading Company. The others work in various fields including Doctor Kayle-Ur and her mate Nurse Hend-Ur, who are famous throughout human space."

"Truly?" Kriss asked, looking curiously at the duo.

"Truly," Hend-Ur admitted. "We have been giving lectures on Pod-Drran anatomy, physiology, and medical practices since the beginning of our time here. We have gained a rather extensive following among the medical experts of the other races,"

"But it is only among the medical staff," Kayle-Ur chimed in. "The general population does not know us at all."

The sad look that Kayle gave her brought a grin to Kriss' face. She could see immediately that the pair were most likely good lecturers.

Kriss was introduced to two people she already knew from back on Hollander's World, Clarrisiya and Alliya. She also met their employer, the diminutive but feisty Takebayashi Urano, owner and manager of the local daycare/school.

The children were receiving advance language training in Asocan, Byandi, and Pod-Drran from the various people. Kriss was not surprised to learn that several of the other people were bodyguards for their principals, the two princesses. She sat quietly near the children, watching how they learned. Their parents had been correct, the children were naturals at languages, so-much-so that they continuously surprised Kriss.

She was speaking with Dr. Heyya, head of the trauma section of the local hospital, and Dr. Maya, a psychiatrist...

"The children are too young for standard IQ tests for their ages, which only measure limited intelligence responses for children under three. We are currently using IQ tests made for young teens thirteen to fifteen, and teens sixteen to nineteen. The children have scored surprisingly high on both sets of tests," Maya explained to her.

"They love to play logic puzzles on the Nanny Comp Net, which they excel at. They have rarely taken more then ten minutes to complete even the most advance puzzles that easily stump me," Heyya groused good naturedly. "We are constantly being surprised by their level of intelligence and their cognitive abilities. The things they are able to do at such a young age are more than just remarkable, they are often beyond belief."

The door chimed and a rather large creature was allowed into the apartment. It looked something like the Chinese dragons that Kriss had seen in anime, with fearsome looking teeth and trailing four longish protrusions of flexible flesh that looked like remarkably mobile whiskers from around its mouth. The head was large enough to engulf either of the two children with a single bite. Rather than having the sinuous, snake-like body of anime dragons, its body was thicker and round behind the neck. It was about 1.7m tall at the shoulders and maybe 3.5m in length, a third of it was a flat tail. It had four legs with one foreleg sporting a large comp on its wrist, indicating its level of intelligence.

"Annnarrrekk!" the children called out and ran to the formidable looking beast, causing Kriss' heart to suddenly skip a beat. She jumped up to chase after them, but was stopped by a hand on her arm. Gillaya held her back and shook her head at her.

"She is a friend and the Ambassador for the Sandekk people," she advised Kriss. "She is also an adult of some 200+ years. She is as tough as nails and it would take a formidable weapon to even hurt her. The Sandekk, even one of her young years, are capable of taking out several Asocans at once. There is little you can do to make a dent on her," Gillaya advised.

"Young years? I thought you said she was over 200?" Kriss asked.

"The Sandekk are the oldest living species we know of. They are capable of living for more than two-and-a-half millennia," Heyya informed a surprised Kriss.

Annnarrrekk plopped down in a corner out of the way as she spoke with the children in her own language. The children opened their comps and Kriss was surprised to learn that they were helping to create the language codex for the Sandekk language, translating Sandekk into Standard. Her thoughts on the children's abilities went up another notch, even more so when Violletiya advised her that the children were getting paid by the station science team for the translations.

She went over and bowed to the Sandekk. "Good day, Ambassador. I am Kriss Klassen, the new nanny for the children," she introduced herself.

"I am Annnarrrekk, Ambasssadorrr for the Sandekk people. I am alllssso a perrrsssonalll frrriend of the famillly."

"Who among the Ambassadors and their staff are not a friend of the family?" Kriss asked, getting a tiny little girl-like giggle from Annnarrrekk, which very much surprised the nanny.

"The famillly is welll thought offf...and what isss not to lllike with two sssuch adorrrabllle lllitllle chillldrrren?" Annnarrrekk asked as the children giggled in turn. They reached up and gave her big face kisses and cheek rubs.

Kriss sat cross legged on the floor and watched as the children worked with Annnarrrekk until dinner was called, then everyone moved to the rather large table, now extend into the living room.

"Unfortunately, Annnarrrekk, we do not have a reclining board for you," Hanalei stated.

"If your guests do not mind me being crude, then I will lick my plate clean," Annnarrrekk stated, partly in jest.

"What is crude about that?" Martte Garnal asked. "I have done that myself on more than one occasion here at this table."

That got laughter from all the guests. As Junelliya and Hanalei put bowl-like plates of stew made with Anuuran spices in front of their friends. They all took a moment to take a scent of the offerings and then sighed. Not long after, they attacked the food with gusto. Annnarrrekk did indeed use her tongue to lick her bowl clean. Even though her bowl was larger than those of the others at the table, it didn't take long for her to thoroughly clean it.

"Where you go next, Aunty Caye?" asked Ikekiya.

"Back to Asocan space. We are going to set up another comp interface on another planet in the Asocan realm. That will be four planets that will have the capability. We will also be selling comps to the people on the planet," Caye responded. "This will be our eighth trip out and we have done quite well on all of them so far."

"You need money?" Zarreniya asked.

"I already have your contributions, girls," Caye replied. "I was in contact with Jean earlier today. He should call you soon about how you are doing, but I can let you know that you have surpassed your objective so far. He is having difficulty finding new places to put your money."

"Uncle Jean good, he find," Zarreniya stated with confidence.

"He will indeed," Hanalei agreed. "I have never met such a competent financial advisor in my life. I am very happy that Liea tweaked us onto him."

"My pleasure, Hanalei. I am glad to have been of some service to you," Liea answered with a smile.

"It will be more interesting later this month when we get the first of the Ur Class ships," Caye told them.

"It's going to be a busy month for us," Hanalei stated. "We have the naming and acceptance ceremony of Liramor Thirty-One, and the first Ur-Class ship late next week and Pallanders Six at the end of the month. Three new Presidential Class Ships; the Asocan Tarl Asoc, the Harradi Gallet, and the Byandi Sanata, all on the 14th of April at Pallanders Four in the Punarjanm system, the christening ceremony of Aurelia's children on Planet Adenomere early in the last week of April, and we do not know when the Kumaraie will call us about the elevation ceremony of the children, if at all."

Mind-Ur laughed at that. "We heard that the Council of Warriors is in hot water with the populace of Pod-Saar. There are even comments about retiring the obviously senile council members if they cannot acknowledge warriors who should be recognized regardless of race or age. The council members cannot even walk the streets without being jeered by the people. I suspect it will not be long before they relent and give the children status as Rai and Kai-Rai."

"No forget music festival, mamma," Zarreniya chimed in.

"Oh, that's right. The Malton University Music Festival has invited us as I am an alumni. That's on the 21st and 22nd.

The group contemplated that for a moment before Ikekiya spoke up. "Uncle Raymond, I have strange dream again," Ikekiya let slip after they had finished the stew. Instantly, the demeanor at the table changed.

"A bad dream, Ikekiya?" Liea asked.

"No, strange, not bad," Ikekiya replied. "I see Paacon, flying and fighting in air."

"The Paacon cannot fly, Ikekiya," Kayle-Ur interjected.

"Are you sure the Paacon was fighting?" Kim asked after a moment. "You remember that I suggested you learn to dance to help with your coordination."

Zarreniya touched her sister and the two quickly got excited. "She dancing, not fighting!" they exclaimed in unison as only twins could, even though they were not twins.

"So why are you asking me about this dream, Ikekiya?" Raymond prompted.

"You help her fly, Uncle Raymond," Zarreniya explained unhelpfully.

"I help her fly? Are you sure it was me?" Raymond asked.

"Yes, Uncle Raymond," Ikekiya responded for the pair. "You 'portant for her, for us. She be very 'portant for Paacon."

"How important, Ikekiya," Alafka asked immediately. Ikekiya's pronouncements had an impact in the Greater Community that was never ignored.

"She be mate of Malta," Zarreniya answered. "Not next Malta, but after."

"It happen soon, Uncle Raymond, but we no meet dancer yet."

"So, you have yet to meet the dancer? Do you know when she will dance in the air?" Raymond demanded.

"Uh huh. It be at Denders," Ikekiya answered.

"What do you know about this dancer?" Gillaya asked.

"She be big!" Zarreniya said.

"Most Paacon are," Gillaya agreed. "What else?"

"She be dull," Ikekiya responded.

"Dull?" Liea questioned.

"Feathers not bright," Ikekiya explained.

"Ah, that kind of dull," Liea noted.

"I believe that means she is not an adult. If I remember correctly, Paacon get their adult height early, around seven or eight years, but do not get their adult plumage until around fifteen years of age," Hanalei interjected. "Who on the station has a daughter that age? I do not believe that there are any Paacon families on Liramor Twenty-Three."

"OH! Doctor Rimmett bring family here!" Zarreniya called out. "She say she have daughter."

"When is the family supposed to arrive?" Hanalei asked Heyya.

"They have been delayed because of the lack of Djinaëte transportation, or they would have been here already," Heyya replied. "I believe that they will be here in two days. Rimmett said her mate is Sammat and her daughter is Lorennett and that she is an accomplished dancer..."

"OH! Maybe she be dancer for us?" Zarreniya said excitedly.
