Well written exposition of emotions and carnal desires, with a bit of tenderness.

Playful erotic tension that is solidly arousing!

I love the complexity of the characters in this series. Hazel remains a bit of an enigma to me (perhaps we'll learn more about her in later chapters), but the (never named?) narrator/male character is very convincing & very nicely realized. In fact, he strikes me as the most real of the male characters introduced so far in this series.

Another very good achievement: the BDSM sex here (if that's the best term for it) isn't really my cup of tea--but here it's made to seem interesting, understandable, sensual, and quite attractive. That's pretty good writing! Five stars for this one.
