Although it may have been nice if you had taken it just a tad further to show the relation build from more than just sex, it was a raw but honest expression of feelings from a reluctant man who wanted to love and be loved, in spite of all of his societal conditioning. Men have feelings, too, and it was nice that they were honored, but also not artificially dressed up in faux romance.
