Michele, you are a master story teller. You've written some real good stories in the past, but this one is your best. I can't wait for the next installment.
Sitting in a backyard, or anywhere else at a domicile, even in California, there is no permit needed. You can't even open carry a unloaded gun here, but you can have a gun on you at home. You are on private property, & a search warrant does not make it public. ATF would be looking for guns, explosives, etc.
