"You don't even trust yourself to open your mouth, do you?" he taunted.
"Let it go, Wolf," the blue-eyed vampire said, breathing a laugh. He stepped up beside Ash, touching the blood that was still wet on the incubus' bare chest.
"Go," Andrenin said, smiling darkly at them. "We'll handle things here."
Lifting the unconscious Italian girl, Visarius nodded to the three, then headed back into the trees. Andrenin and Pershing followed after, the latter giving Talera one last once-over before he melted into the shadows. With a nod, the two male vampires vanished in twin whorls of sand, rising into the night too quickly for Kevin's eyes to catch.
"Just to clarify," Kevin said, coming to stand in front of Talera, looking down into her eyes. "That was Arkon, right?"
She nodded, smiling slightly.
A breath of a laugh forced itself out of his mouth. Shaking his head, he ran his hands through his hair, taking a deep, deep breath, letting it out as slowly as he could.
"This has been one hell of a week," he said finally. He wanted to hold her, but didn't, settled for kissing the air just above her forehead with all the tenderness he could muster. She blinked her eyes, flames burning in their depths once more, looking up at him serenely.
"I won't touch you," he said, taking a step back. "Persh is right. I don't see how you're holding it in. Go. Good hunting."
She didn't move, looking from him to Ana, expression unreadable.
"Go," Ana said. "We'll take care of her. Take the time you need. We'll meet you back in DC."
With a sigh, nodding her head, she took a step backwards, turning to face the waves. Stopping near the water's edge, she looked back over her shoulder at them, smiling.
"Thank you," she said softly, her voice carrying on the wind, energy in her words making them shiver. Raising her wings high, she vanished in a blur of Darkness.

I didn't agonize over every single word of this installment like I normally do, so please bear with me if it's a little rough. For me this is an exceptionally quick post, so don't get spoiled. I'm nowhere close to done. This story has gone far, far... far, far, far, far, far... beyond its original intention. Thanks to all who vote (I'm not all that concerned with ranking, but I do have my pride) and thanks for the great feedback. I'm working out the next chapter dutifully, sleep be damned. My employees think I'm daydreaming and/or insane as I work out dialogue (aloud) to myself.

McLovin6787over 11 years agoOut of all the things i could have expected u sure threw a curveball right there. Ive been hooked since the first chapter but this just adds to the fascination. When i first read your description of wat she was saying she was i expected something straight out of Dante's Inferno but damn if u didnt catch me off guard with this one and i kid u not the title of this comment were the first words to pop into my head upon reading this.
Hell of a great story even minus the erotic parts.
PeepItover 11 years agoFucking love it! God....no other stories touching these types of characters will be safe with the comparison I have to hold them to! Mannnnnnnnn.....!!!!! I just can't say enough on the concepts and characterizations...the spelling errors are ok...I just LOVE the STORY! Hell....you ARE A GENIUS!!! Hai...doumo arigatou gozaimasu Sensei!!!! It's your universe and I'm just a Peeping Tom passing thru!

Love the eternal being angle, and how the original group of students are being developed as characters. Can't wait to keep reading to find out what happens to all of them.

Anonymousabout 16 years agoI love this series. I read the first three chapter ages ago and just found the newer chapters today. I cannot wait for more to come. Your writing is fantastic! I can picture every character so clearly in my mind. You're doing a really good job! Nice plot twist with Talera being a dragon. That never crossed my mind. I do really want things to be resolved with Taylor and Sarah, though. They were the closest of the girls and Sarah was the first to see and accept Talera's world. I honestly thought that Sarah would be the one to turn into a succubus. Now, I'd definitely like to see Sarah become immortal.... maybe Talera can turn her? Or maybe the trauma of seeing Talera turned will be enough to bring out natural magical abilities- like what initially happened to Taylor. But no way can Sarah stay human while the others survive without her. Anyway. Fantastic job! Eagerly awaiting the next chapter.
Anonymousabout 16 years agoOnce you are done developing this story to its fullest you really should think about trying to get it published in book form. ITS GREAT. Good character development, good story plot development, editing is a tad rough sometimes but nothing major. All in all its a book i would LOVE to buy.
Anonymousabout 16 years agoA dragon, never expected that. I really like where you have taken us so far. I truly feel bad for Sarah. Kevin and Ana have embraced the supernatural while she is still battling with her humanity. It will be interesting to see if things change. Who knows, Quentin may me her soul mate.
