In spite of how sizzling hot this is, I would’ve enjoyed it if she’d called Gavin on his (one of his) lies: she didn’t want it as much as he did. Did she want it? Sure, I mean that’s clear, there’s no denying that. Did she want it *as much* as he did? No. Because he wanted it enough to leverage someone’s desperation into transgressing their morality…and lie about it in the process. For her to have wanted it as much as he did, Alicia would’ve had to have been lying to Gavin as well.

The fascinating thing, to me, is that even in the midst of my enjoyment of the story, my ‘respect’ insofar as one respects fictional characters for Gavin dropped sharply. He postures himself as a dangerous, seductive predator…but he’s just a liar, really. And his justifications only seem compelling or troubling on someone just fucked and ambushed with the truth
