I know it’s your first time writing but no. Not even if we had been married 40 years the answer would be no . So I’ve got to say that this being your first time. This will hurt to put it but here goes . The story was utter garbage you should of got an editor but who is to say they could of helped. I could see what you were try to do but it’s how you went about writing it . Trying to keep you a sort of a man but when they cheat that is the end of the road for you.

I'm reasonably sure that the last sentence of the next-to-last paragraph is supposed to imply something subtle, something mysterious, something . . . ??? But I'm not nearly smart enough to figure out what it is, let alone who's boss.

Not sure this is in the correct category. It’s a flash story and should be so-labeled. Probably non-erotic would fit best, since there really was nothing erotic in the “story” and wifey is not having sex with anyone else. Menopause does not have to mean the end of sex or the cause of discomfort for women. If she really loves him (he’s sure she does, but maybe he’s wrong?), she’ll at the very least see her doctor about this important situation. And of course, an editor would help. Just re-reading the sentence, “I love our intimacy and I don't want to louse you are worried about my boner,” should confirm the need for editing. What does he have to do with her wanting or even suggesting a divorce? There are medical options she can take to overcome/counter the effects of menopause. These issues are quite common. Now, you have me confused, in the beginning of the story you make it sound like he is giving up his manhood to keep his wife. You then write that she got a new younger boss, one that all women would want. You said that, ' I'm pretty sure I recognize her boss's influence in that thought process. This would indicate that he has made a move on or is having a relationship with the wife.

You then went to, 'This, my dear, is an Oath of Celibacy. I am giving up sex so we can stay married.' Because, 'Yes, I know that your libido is gone. Yes, I know that menopause has made it impossible to enjoy sex for you. I know that you feel like shit every time I grab your ass or cop a feel.'

What you failed (in my opinion,and yes opinions are like assholes) why would her boss tell her she should get divorced because she doesn't enjoy sex anymore. Was his way of not looking like, 'he's not a cad, just very socially adept' at steeling another mans wife to convince her the reason she didn't like sex was because of the husband. What boss should be discussing sex with a subordinate anyway.

So now a (I assume (bad word)) faithful husband has to resort to an Oath of Celibacy to keep a wife who will probably cheat on him with the socially adept boss. Writer, cuckolding and cock cages come in a lot of varieties and you just found a new one.

I can't quite understand this one. Wife's menopause has caused her libido to drop, so husband won't ask her for sex. But where does boss fit into this? Needs clarification at the very least.

This story is too obscure to decipher, and what appears to be insinuated suggests its the boss that's going to be fucking his wife from now on. You need more than an editor, you need to start with a story outline. You will never be able to just “sit down and write a story from beginning to end” without planning. That is, unless you are a talented writer with significant experience writing. I see no evidence of that.
