I wasn/t sure who was who until the end. But i guess the main character was confused too, since it was a dream. if that was your intention then you accomplished your goal. Well written.
Yes this story, as the subtitle suggests, is an exploration of the confused dream state one experiences following a prolonged period on the operating table. A few years back I spent a good five hours having my heart rebuilt and the resultant climb back to reality was very strange. Even on finding full consciousness I could not focus my eyes or my brain for several long minutes. The surgery had been a planned event and still I had no idea what just transpired. My first sane thought being that of quenching a driving thirst for water. I had no who the people were standing at my bedside or why I couldn't move. Confusion doesn't begin to describe it.
