an excellent story. Well done, Mr. Jim. Thanks for sharing your work.
Surprisingly poignant for a quick bit of fluff. Very clever. Thanks
I'm a total sucker for allegorical fairy stories, even if SJ did try and bundle up a bumper bundle of them.
5 pointy things for the feel good marshmallowy after effects!
In general, I hate ghost/supernatural stories, but this was a good read.
That's what you call original.
Well-thought-out tale with a genuine Halloween twist. Sure, no sex, but, when it's written so cleverly... who cares?
No else to say... except: bravo, author.
Maybe @SleeperyJim best story...Thank you for saving the last few days...5*
Hard to pick a favorite from your series as they all are great. I hope you never run out of ideas.
I have enjoyed your Conversations stories, but this is the best so far. Very good! I liked it a lot. Original and creative. Thank you.
Nicely done & quite satisfying, with no tummy-ache after consuming! ;-)
Thanks, I'm really enjoying this "series" of tales, so keep 'em coming.....
on Samhain, the spirits can pop through for a while. Can't they?
...with a heavy dose of justice.
Always a good day when I see another 'conversations' appear in the new stories list.
The 5 stars helps to balance out the fact that there's a new dwhorenuck story that's made an appearance too.
...let us "see" the story in your settings as well as the narrator saw his wife.
Thank you for letting it happen more than once a year.
You ROCKED that story.
Way to go, you overwhelmed me with a multitude of conflicting emotions, and scored an excellent and very nice ending.
The twist was a little M Night, but very well written and worked perfectly- especially with the fairy tale allusions.
I don't like murder crap stories, but going that far overboard fit into the context of a Halloween story. Interesting way of telling a story, by telling a story. I don't think I've seen that before. Kudos for being innovative.
And I'm a very veteran horror story reader. I knew the fairy tale was about his and the wife's life, but didn't guess she was a ghost, lol. Well done. 5*s
Five Stars from Burg Frankenstein in Hessen.
A happy and spooky Halloween 🎃
Like I said in Conversations 10, each time you write you elevate your work. This was just great. Who doesn't like a good ghost story at Halloween? Especially one where an evil cheating wife and lover are dealt with permanently. Great story. This is one of the few story series that I look forward to.
Very well written and plotted. I'm going to have to read more of these. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Forgiveness is the prison that will hold him forever. She may be in Purgatory but he will spend eternity in Hell.
Absolutely outstanding. You had me guessing scenarios and endings all the way through. Well done. Thanks for posting. 5 stars, of course.
I was wondering why his ex was at his house.
Got a clever answer to that.
Loved the interaction with the children.
Warm and realistic.
A really great little story.
Top ratings from me.
Wow!!! Great job, esp. the haunting wife angle!!! LWrite on!!!!
will last forever in some kind of form, TK U MLJ LV NV
sure its a GREAT Halloween story, but it ranks as on of your best in this series. ;0)
Great twist on the story of the movie. Great BTB story with ultimate burning. 5 Star Rating.
What an amazing story. The best Halloween ever an one of the top Loving Wives stories. Keep up the amazing work.
Well done, Jim. Innovative and well-paced.
5 big stars, bud.

...that it inspired me to write my own. It's called All Hallows Eve and I would not have thought to write it without your story. Thank you. And I really enjoyed the way you worked the revenge angle.
The author has several different stories here. All good. He also loves redheads and
does appear to be worried about how anyone can forgive being betrayed or forgive betrayal. Me too.
Loved this and the rest of the series. You have a great imagination and writing skills. Looking forward to future stories. 5 stars
But a woman goes missing and the cops don’t even pay the ex a visit. Not in any world.
I do believe that this is the first Loving Wives story I've read that made me wish I could rate much higher than a mere 5 stars. Truly captivating.
I'm a grown man who hunts some real monsters for a living, and that one have me a little chill. Damn good one.
That he did, I could live with this one day a year, wonder if Karen knows? He was even 'kind' enough to put Wendy in a place where she could continue to see their children, at least when they were outside. Sounds like good choices for Frank's final 'resting place' too. Poetic justice all around. Signed: BTW
Really excellent story, took me while but it made me sad for those that screw up so bad. Very well written.
If he wants to be mean, he can just point out after this:
"Please," she said. "Please, if you ever loved me, please do this one thing for me. Don't sell the house and move away. I can never leave the garden. I can't go into the house except when you invite me, and I get one day a year - the day of the dead - when you and other people can see me. And even then you're the only one that can hear me. I know I don't deserve it, I really don't, but please ... be kinder than I was."
"Even if I don't sell the house, I won't live forever but you'll still be stuck here forever. Knowing for the rest of eternity that you threw away me and your children for a fuck and that your heart was dead long before you were."
did you even read the story? the wife and her lover left. their return was a secret. so everyone else thought they eloped not knowing about their return to kill the husband. that’s why the husband said cleaning up was easy sinc no one knew they came back.
don't need a lot of research to assemble for oratories. TK U MLJ LV NV
I've read most of these. I've read ALL of LW Best. I've only commented on one other story ( to finish the damn thing). I tip my hat to you.
Knowing it was a Halloween story, it was very predictable that she was a ghost, but that in no way diminished the story. Very well done.
Wow ! Awesome read , figured out the ghost, but didn't diminish the enjoyment a bit
Superb!
Fairy tale link was outstanding.
Dark & bang on BTB
Loved the narration
5*
Cute. But the part that police would never visit does not seem right. The author is always clumsy with details when they don't fit readily, this is his problem in all of his stories.

Always original, always well told. Have you entered this in any of the Halloween contests?
5 stars and favorited!
Wow, sad story but I loved it. Never liked that holiday, to ungodly! 5 BIG stars.
I think she considered me her property - although purely on the level of what-can-I-get-out-of-him
Just like pretty much every woman I've ever dated.
I loved this story. Well done! Would have been better if he did sell the house, and move directly across the street, though. But, that's just me.
If the cheating slag and her boyfriend were covering their presence in his house in order to commit the perfect crime, it's totally understandable that the police would never show up at his doorstep as they'd have nothing to lead them there. As the Mc says, their planning made this crime possible. Bravo to the writer for a refreshing, btb masterpiece.
As I was reading this story the primary thought rattling around in my brain pan was clearly expressed by Karl_H a couple weeks earlier. Thanks, SleepyJim.
Keep 'em comin'.

I read all these conversations, and in my head they turn into Tales of the Unexpected, complete with the dancing girl intro and music. They really are great. Thanks fella.
I kinda guess one of them was dead or they both were and they thought the other was the one that was a ghost. Kinda like a 2 way mirror without the reflection.
(A haunted house with no reflections not even a silhouettes from any object.... )
