I almost don't feel like these are the same characters we read before. I feel it would have been more effective to have had her husband spying on her if she truly has something with this new guy in her life. I mean, its sacred thing they have and her real husband can't be part of it. to have him there I understand is to show humiliation, but I think the real humiliation is that there is something she desires and has special with this disgusting neighbor, and her real husband tries so desperately to get a taste of.
