"Yeah Stace?

"Wanna be one of my bridesmaids?" It was silent for several seconds while Ellen absorbed this otherwise unexplained news and put all the pieces together.

"Well I'll be damned." Everybody at the table broke out in laughter.

~

"So... Bridesmaids?" I queried the next afternoon in the truck on the way home again. Stace was sitting beside me, her hand wrapped under my right leg, holding me close.

"Carrie, Maid of Honor, your sis Ellen, and Josette."

"Just the three?"

"We did say we'd try and keep it small."

"Yeah, I know. Carrie said yes?"

"Of Course."

"I knew she would." I thought about it momentarily and decided to poke just a little bit.

"So, does the Maid of Honor get to go along on the honeymoon?"

"Not if you value your life, Ricky boy." I grinned and put my arm around her shoulder, and Stacy snuggled closer.

I don't normally like to read multi-chapter stories however, you are a very good author and I have enjoyed reading your stories. If I had one critique it would be that in all of your stories I have read your characters must have super human energy to have sex as often as they do in such a short period of time. Must be nice!

This story caught my eye because my cousin and I took each others virginity and we hooked up several times after. The difference is she wanted to marry me and I had no interest. Good thing too looking at the person she has become over the years. It was fun for a short time.

I just re-read my own story, a common occurrence when someone gives me feedback. I immediately see all the errors I left behind, (commas where commas aren't needed EVERYWHERE), and then to question the estimates. How did I do?

On the last page, on this story written months ago, I'd estimated that two months before June 15th, or April 15th, we would have 446,000 deaths to coronavirus in the USA. In actuality, today, the 15th of February, we just reached 500,000 dead - two months early. Yes, the numbers are dropping, yes we now have vaccinations available, but despite that - we still have those who think it was a hoax, think it's an imposition to require everyone to protect their fellow man from something they can't see, can't control.

I ask this; if you went into a crowded theater and yelled "FIRE" and anyone got trampled and killed in the ensuing stampede while you stood back and watched the panic, would that be murder? Would that be Manslaughter? Would you be totally without blame? We all know the answer is no.

If similarly, you decide that this is all a hoax, and without knowing you're a carrier, refuse to wear a mask, and someone gets sick and dies and they prove it was you, is that not murder? Or manslaughter?

I ask for a personal reason. A good friend has been caring for her elderly mother for years. Yes, the mother had "co-morbidities", at 91 she wasn't a spring chicken, and was suffering from dementia. My friends two half-sisters (with a very strained relationship btw) who both live in lesser populated locations, have always spouted that it's a hoax, masks aren't needed, it's no worse than the flu. Four weeks ago, they arrived and entered the home, spent a weekend with their mother without wearing masks, again espousing that this was a hoax. 48 hours after the sisters left, "mom" was diagnosed with Covid-19, a very bad case, and 72 hours later passed on. On her death bed, she spoke to my friend and said "Hold me". Being a dutiful daughter, she couldn't say no, crawled up on the bed and cuddled her dying mother.

My friend died last night. 3 and a half weeks after cuddling her mother. She also was diagnosed just days after that happened, and was taken off her ventilator yesterday after the doctors gave her no hope, dying just hours later.

So many out their think it is an overstepping of the constitution for the government to mandate, to those who don't agree, something that saves lives of others. Isn't that a basic premise of government? Penalizing those who shout fire in a theater and cause harm to others? Taking care of those uneducated who refuse to believe the science and cause harm to others? Which takes precedence? Life, or "personal freedom?"

RIP my friend. You are missed.
