Good story! He made the better choice in the girl he married. I did learn a new word: theodolite.

A little too repetitive on tides and 100 year events. And it's kind of strange for the title character to be long dead and have no relevance to moving the story along.

The writing was rather primitive. Events just jumped into being and there was very little if character development.
