An 18 year old out of boot camp is not eligible to go to officer training. Sandman would have to apply to ranger school after serving several years.

Brings back memories of Me and My Friend Joe .. Both poor but Joe had a Black Belt in Brazilian Karate .. I was taught To Box By My Dad .. So Joe and I always Sparred together .. I Taught Him what I Knew and He tried to teach Me what He Knew . He did Try but He was a Black Belt .. Joe dated My Cousin and had 9 Fights in High School . No One said anything about My Cousin with Joe around . He naturally won all 9 Fights easily .. We Both Joined the Marines together .. We both got to Play in The Sand Box . He ended up as a School Teacher and I ended up being a CPA ..

How did he go to OTS without a degree?? Never happin G.I.
