It was a strain at first, but gradually, things normalized in our relationship with each other and the kids. It helped enormously when my mom moved in with us. She took over the apartment in the basement as her living quarters. She became the major domo of the house. She helped a great deal with the kids--getting them up and dressed in the mornings, making breakfast, lunch and dinner... and teaching them to dance. I hired Merry Maids to do the house cleaning. Whenever Deanne was over, Mom was very polite to her, and in fact, they got along well together. Mom never pressed me to reconcile with Deanne.
Through Gary, I was able to keep tabs on what was occurring in Deanne's life as she and Dionne discussed their lives. She returned to being an escort. She was good at it and it paid well. Nevertheless, she lamented the loss of Phil, Dewy and Dave, and had to work at her chosen profession without all of the satisfaction that she enjoyed previously and without the high rate of return.
Dionne wanted Deanne to move back to California to live with her, but Deanne said she would never leave her children while they were still as young as they were. Nevertheless, Deanne and Dionne got together enough to offer themselves as identical twin escorts--at four times their regular rates. Apparently, there are enough rich bastards out there that they were often taken up on their offer. They would have trysts all over the country and their clients would fly them to wherever they wanted them to be.
Between the two of them, Deanne and Dionne both knew that they couldn't last forever as escorts, not even escorts for their more mature clientele. However, their avocation taught them a lot about elite social gatherings and they had enough high visibility clients to start their own business.
In addition to staying active in our children's daily lives, Deanne took advantage of her six weeks of custodial privilege in the summer to take them on great vacations. Almost always, she would go with Dionne and give me assurances that there would be no escort-related activities while the kids were in their care.
Once a year or so, Dionne would visit Deanne and would come over to the house to see the kids and have dinner. I was always a little cold toward her and she knew why. If it wasn't for her, Deanne would never have become an escort and my wonderful marriage would have remained intact.
Meanwhile, I continued to date Jeri. We had become the best of friends, largely through the friendship developed between my kids and hers. Nevertheless, we were both still gun-shy about an exclusive relationship. She had been through the ringer two years before, and knew what it was like. She wanted me to develop more social contacts; i.e., date more before becoming serious with her. Nevertheless, she was a stabilizing influence in my new world. And we did sleep with each other on occasion.
Many people might have wanted me to crush Deanne, socially, professionally and financially as repayment for her disloyalty and infidelity as part of a revenge-laden act of retribution. However, I was content. I had my children in a healthy home environment with my mom. Deanne still played an active role in the lives of her children, and she and I developed a cordial relationship. I still had a well-paying job that I loved. I also had a large number of friends with whom I kept socially active. It's impossible to remain bitter under those conditions.

Anonymousabout 1 month agoI really struggled with this story. It was well written on a technical level and had an interesting if surreal plot. For that I consider scoring a story highly. But then we have the characters and some of the plot details. The whole I want to be an escort with the first sister and then the second one doing it as a substitute to help her injured sister and both expecting their husbands to accept that is just unbelievable and idiotic. I could be wrong but I doubt any judge would consider an escort to be a fit mother for custody compared to a working dad. It's just not believable and in fact almost comedic in its premise. Then the "revenge" plot by hubby 2 to get her involved in drugs and incest acting is just infantile. Sorry this really doesn't work at all and am disappointed that a quality author would write this. I'm being generous here and awarding 2 stars. BardnotBard
Anonymous2 months agoI gave it 3 stars because of the story written & being told, but wasn't anywhere close to a 4th star. Both sisters & husbands, especially Deanne's husband, are mentally deprived. I can see where, perhaps the sister's husband didn't know of her "job", but on the otherhand, I can't see where he's actually that blind. Deanne's husband just seems to accept it, even tho he did divorce her.
I can't imagine any man, having his wife become an escort for any reason, accepting her home. It's divorce time for adultery & showing that the wife's an unsuitable mother. Hands down. You don't have her sister visiting or the kids being able to spend 2-3 months (vacation & other times) with either female (read bitch).
While I rated on the story itsself, the characters deserved a 1. As written, I find the story extremely hard to believe, unless all the adults used some crack laced pot. Bob
Anonymous2 months agoThis made little to no sense. How coukd she possibly be a good mom? Sorry this one was a disappointment. Forget the btb. His initial forgiveness. Her taking that as a pass to do whatever she wanted. Why woukd she even want that life? Once you have escorted or been a prostitute for a significant time, apparently you get jaded about sex with men because if the lack of emotion and the general crappiness of the act. There is no glamor there. She had to have aerious mental issues. There are no halcyon days in her past. She lost big. What a mess.
TrainerOfBimbos3 months agoI don't know about this one. The wife was clinically insane, didn't show an ounce of remorse and was extremely manipulative and it came right out of nowhere. The fact that the sister was basically in the situation that Deanne would find herself in and instead of counseling against it, promoted it... that made no sense either. The motivations for the characters were all over the place and frankly, this shit went on way too long. Once Deanne was basically using and dealing coke he could have gotten her to do real time, even 6 months inside a rehab clinic would have seen him get sole custody of the kids because frankly, when it comes to child custody, it's as they say - "possession is nine-tenths of the law". Even before that, while escorting (no sex) is legal, the police do stings all the bloody time on escort companies and the way Deanne was conducting herself would have seen her with a prostitution charge, which again - once it was shown that she was essentially a professional prostitute, would have caused her to lose custody of her kids. I know you wanted to write something really complicated, but it was unnecessary. There were so many simple ways for this situation to be solved, hell just saying "My wife is a drug using prostitute that works for an escort agency" to someone at CPS, would have destroyed her.
