One small problem, as is common in a lot of stories, is measurements of distance. Unless the underbrush was so thick that Cara couldn't see out, then she had to be more than 3 meters from Sandy and Darkhair. It would have been so thick that those two lads couldn't have been doing anything! My desk is 1 3/4 meters wide, so basically just add another 1 1/4 meter for your three. Or, I could lay down and from feet to outstretched hand is 2 1/2 meters. Cara wasn't in full camo gear, correct? Sorry for the rant, that is just an issue with me.
But, what a great story! So much happened in Cara's world in such a short time. Fantastic writing!
Thanks for your comments! Is it OK for me to reply here? <shrug>
I see your point about the distance, but here in Vancouver it is entirely possible to be ten feet (three metres) from people, behind a log covered in ferns, and be completely undetected in the forest, yet still see a lot. Especially if they are intent on other "activities". Search Google images for "Vancouver Rain Forest" to see what I mean :). I will consider that readers may not be familiar with my surrounding environment in the future.
