Personally, I love the 750 Word Project and I think you managed to encapsulate a life-changing day pretty well within that limit.

On the constructive criticism side, you did leave some leaks in the boat that could be tightened up pretty easily. Like, she's 'a homemaker in a frumpy housecoat,' but then calls in sick to the office. Are you talking positions and/or appearances? And it seems like she puts the choker on before Johnny leaves, but it also comes across as something she did later and he's pleasantly surprised to see it when he returns.
