Perfect, just perfect. I love romance, and this is a perfect example of romance at it's very best! I'm rereading this, as I will do many more times I'm sure. My only regret is that it wasn't longer. Well, also that it is not published for the world to read. This is a love story for the ages. It epitomizes the truth that true love knows no boundaries of age or station in life. True love does exist, I count myself as blessed to have known true love. It is a treasure beyond reckoning. This story touched my soul, and my heart, thank you for giving me the gift of having to be able to have shared in your vision as written here. It is a very much appreciated gift.

Most of the stuff I read here is 90% smut, and on the rare occasion, romance can play a part. Your stuff is a perfect blend when you choose to throw romance in! You have a gift as an author and I am going to favorite you because you deserve it.

I love everything about this story. Mostly I appreciate how much care you took to express your thoughts and your own emotions so clearly and honestly. This story is a gift to us readers, with no thought of remuneration. It is sort of like giving us a heartfelt Valentine's Day card!

Well, as I read this story today, it is neither midwinter nor Valentine's Day, and the message is still just as powerful. What counts in any romantic relationship is what is in the hearts of the people involved. Having a beautiful body helps, and being a good lover helps, but it is the love that the two people involved express to each other that makes their relationship genuinely satisfying. Loved it . Haven't read a story this good in a very long time. You took your time with the characters and their backgrounds and that pulled me into the story. You could have taken this and turned it into a romance novel.

So many stories in this genre are poorly constructed by illiterate writers, that a quick look is often enough to get me to press the "back" button on my browser.

Sure, it's normally "words are cheap" meaning there's no real cost in making compliments so kind of hard to put much value in them...

But this really was an awesome story... even if you've never had the sort of bad luck he had it's easy to extrapolate from the feeling of not being able to get a break to REALLY not being able to get a break... and then to have two people who so clearly deserve a break manage to be the source of each other's breaks is even nicer...

I loved how a kindness became friendship became want became love... and all of that only came to be due to your writing talent. Thanks for the story...

I loved the way you portrayed his dejection and misery. It felt real. I don't say that for every thing I read, but this one made me do so. This story isn't exactly one-of-a-kind, but your style of writing and narration made it so much better than the formulaic ones I'm familiar with. A few typos here and there, but a flawless read nonetheless. Makes me wonder why I didn't read it earlier...

If I would've been aware of this piece at the time of the contest, you would've had my heartiest wishes and a 5* to go with.

This is 2nd read of this story and it was a 5 last time as well. Four weeks ago, I spent my 51st Valentine's Day with my one true love. The first 5 we were dating and the last 46 married, but back in the day, we waited until married to make love with each other in a Memphis Bridal Suite, not as erotic as this story, but great just the same.

Again, enjoyed this story!

A mutual friend (payenbrant) kept telling me I needed to read this story. He KNEW I would love it. Well he happened to be right (and please don't tell him I said he was right. I'll never hear the end of the 'I told you so's LOL). The slow build up was perfect, giving plenty of time to create your characters and backstories. The reader ends up caring what happens to Jamie and Paula and wants that 'fairy tale' ending for them.

Too many spelling errors--and some simply show lack of proper thinking. 'Whose' and 'who has' are two very different things, to name just one.

I don't frankly much care for sex much if don't like the characters in a story. I liked the characters here and how much they were believable. I cared for them. And I think that's when the sex gets really hot. So kudos to you for a brilliant story. Thanks for sharing. I absolutely enjoyed it.

I dont like 'mature' stories on this website - too many young girls. This was compelling because of the description of the 'homeless' life - the detail of make do. Both parties' need was more core and acute. Is this another example of a professional writer slumming for free on the web? It certainly read like it.

For the first time i didn't find it weird that an old woman can get it on with a young boy, a beggar even. I guess it's all about getting to know both parties' backrounds. This is not lust, it's real love with grip on roots.

the only way I see this story as being better is learning how her ex's and her kids' and his aunt's kids' lives turn to complete crap, presumably sooner rather than later...

you have to have a second chapter where his aunt dies and leaves him a ZILLON DOLLARS and he and the lady gets married and has a house full of kids and lives happy ever after

Two people met under the worst of situations who would think that two hearts would come together as one. They both had been treated like dirt under her husband and his relatives feet. It started out with her being kind because that is the type of person she is and him forced to shame himself not to live but just to survive. This is a really loving and heart felt story but you have to read between the written lines to fully appreciate the story.

Will there be a follow up story about them because in my mind there is more to say about them?
