"Thanks for being so understanding. I'll see you later."

"Yes, Sir. I'll be the naked one in bed."

I laughed and kissed her.

Everyone else was already at the Restaurant. Jack knew Jeri and Josef looked enough like Nick that Jeri asked if he was Mr. Wallensky, so they were all seated by the time I got there. Brenda was with Jack.

"How profoundly do I have to apologize, Brenda, for the way I behaved the first time I was here with you."

"Not too profoundly, although you'll pay for dinner tonight in recompense. Jack explained everything to me."

Wondering if I still had to worry about her knowledge of Phillip and Laura, I said, "What did he explain?"

"That you knew he was looking for a nice woman for himself, and figured I'd do better with a person closer to my age instead of younger like you, but you just didn't want to dump me, so set that little show up so he could rescue me from the brute."

Whew. "That much, huh. I wasn't sure he'd tell you I was trying to set you up with him."

"No. He gave me the whole deal."

"You're getting along well, then, I take it."

"I've got my house on the market. I'm going to move to San Francisco with him."

"Brenda, that's marvelous. Do I hear bells in your future?"

"Well, he hasn't asked me yet, but he keeps hinting he's ready to settle down. Who are these other people?"

"Well, Nora is married to this fellow by the name of Nick, who was injured in service to his country. I'm helping him with some surgery he needed. Nora is a little worried that he might be depressed, so we invited his parents down to talk to him when he gets out of the hospital tomorrow. Jeri met with Nick and is going to tell them what the problem might be. They had limited opportunities to talk before Nick comes home, so I invited all of them so they could chat."

"That's sweet."

"Sometimes, I'm a sweet guy. Sometimes I pull shit like I did with you, and hope it works out well in the end. I guess I lucked out with you." I kissed her on the cheek.

I shook hands with Jack, then handed him a briefcase. "This is everything we've got figured at the company, the problems they've had and the people we let go and the ones temporarily in place. You might like meeting with all of them and see if you think we made good choices on the replacements."

"I trained you, didn't I."

"You sure did."

"Then I expect you've started righting the ship."

"Roxanne Martinez might be able to provide more information when you get there. You're starting on Monday?"

"No point in dilly-dallying."

"I'd like to see a nice turn around in roughly a year so I can put it back on the market at twice the price I bought it for."

"I'll see what I can do."

"I know Jeri and the Wallensky' have some private matters to discuss, so when you're finished with dinner, I'll bid you both adieu. I'll probably check in with you in six to eight weeks, see how things are going."

"Sounds good, Brick."

During dinner, Josef entertained us with stories of his combat in the First Gulf War. Brenda asked Josef how Nick was injured.

"In the battle for Baghuz, the US had special forces troops on the ground in Syria to drive ISIL out of Syria, after they'd already been driven out of Iraq. They were primarily there coordinating airstrikes and manning mortar batteries. He was in a troop carrier that was blown up from an IED. He had a lot of damage to his right side, the side of the blast. Lost most of the use of his right arm, lots of scarring."

"I'm so sorry," Brenda said. "That's quite tragic. He must be quite young."

"Too young," Maggie said. "But the Wallensky' have a history of service going back to the Second World War. Nick wasn't to be denied his chance to make a difference."

******

After Brenda and Jack left, Jeri talked about Nick to his parents outside the restaurant talking about the specific things he'd said that had made her draw the conclusions she had, Nora adding information as needed. I tried to stay out of the conversation as I didn't know Nick that well, and had no expertise to add.

After their discussion, I went back to the Smiths, Nora was now on her own.

The next two times I had sex with Laura, once that evening, and early the next morning, I hoped were not the last two times I had sex with anyone. She told me to be careful when I left.

******

I arrived at Nick's the next morning, and Maggie was there to let me in. I gave her the house key I had borrowed. Nora had left 90 minutes earlier to pick up Nick, and Josef was out moving their car. I did another quick run through of the house, looking for things which might cause me harm. Josef got there about a quarter to nine, and I trusted his eyes more than my own, as he was ex-military as well. Josef had Maggie wait in the kitchen in case the action started in the living room. Josef went into the guest bedroom, in case it took Nick longer to get angry than I anticipated, and we'd already moved to the bedroom.

I took a seat on the living room couch and took several deep breaths the moment I heard their car outside.

Nora was the first through the door.

"Brick," is all she said.

"What are you doing here. You were supposed to be gone when I arrived," Nick said.

"Yeah, I've been thinking about that, and I don't think I'm quite done with your wife yet."

"What are you talking about?"

I stood up. This is where it was going to get tricky.

"Brick," Nora said, "you need to leave. You did what you were supposed to do. Get out."

"I mean I'm not done fucking your cute little wife yet. You should have heard her squeal when I fucked her, Nick. You should have heard her moan and beg for my cock. No, I figured it was time I fucked the bitch in front of the nutless, one armed cuck so you could see how to properly fuck a woman."

"Get the fuck out!" Nora screamed. "How dare you talk to my husband that way, let alone me."

I stepped forward and took Nora's hand. Come on Nick, react.

"Let's go, Nora. I still haven't fucked your mouth or ass yet. I was saving all my juice for your cunt. It's time to test drive all your other fuck holes."

I started dragging her to the bedroom. Nick, fight for your fucking woman. What do I have to do here?

Nora screamed. "Please, Nick. He's going to rape me. Can't you do something?"

I saw a look come over his face. That's what I was looking for.

"Let her the fuck go and get the fuck out!" Nick said.

"Come on, Nick," I said. "Don't you want to see how a real man fucks your wife?"

All of a sudden there was a freight train coming at me. I pushed Nora away and tried to brace myself. Bam! I was slammed into the wall so hard my teeth rattled and picture frames fell on the floor. His left arm threw me on the ground and he was about to stomp my face in.

"Nick, stop," Maggie shouted.

"That's enough, son," Josef ordered.

I was staring up at the sole of Nick's shoe about three feet over my face. Thank God it wasn't moving.

"Mom, Dad, what are you doing here?" His foot was still poised over my face. I kept my mouth shut.

"This whole thing was an act, Nick, a play for your fucking benefit. Don't stomp his face in. He wasn't going to do anything to Nora."

Nick lowered his foot to the floor, not my face.

"What's this all about. then?" Nick asked.

"To see how long it took you to stick up for your wife like a husband should. Took you long enough. I'd have been kicking his ass the moment Nora told him to get the fuck out of here. What? You thought Nora deserved him? You thought he was a better man than you? Is that how far you've fallen?"

Nick looked down at me. "He is a better man than me."

"I've got a working set of balls. That doesn't make me a better man, Nick," I said. "I'm not a man who has proudly served his country. Who gave so much of himself in defense of it. I'm not a man who has a woman who loves him so much, she'd stick by him through thick and thin. I'm not that kind of a man. You are. You just forgot it. You keep thinking of how much you've lost, instead of how much you still have. Do you mind if I get up now, or will you try to kill me again?"

He stepped back and I got up, slowly. I fucking hurt all over. One of my ribs might be cracked. There was a hole in the wall where I'd hit it. Maggie and Nora started picking up the pictures that fell on the floor.

"I'll pay to have that fixed," I said.

"My Dad and I can fix it."

"Damn, I hurt. I think you cracked a rib. So much for being a one armed, nutless failure of a man."

Josef laughed and Nick smiled. "Really, what the fuck are you doing here?" Nick asked.

"I brought Nora to visit you on Tuesday and she was crying when I met her back at the car. You said some things that hurt her, Nick. That you believed she was going to leave you eventually, leave you for someone else. That's not what she wants, Nick. She wants you. Don't try pawning her off on other people. She's a grown up and can figure out for herself what she wants. It's certainly not me. I'd make her miserable and break her heart. Tell me you haven't been thinking about making sure Nora found a good man and then offing yourself?"

He looked at his parents. "I can't tell you that."

"The thing is, Nora already found a good man. She doesn't want anyone else. Instead of her leaving you, you've been leaving her. Pushing her away. Isn't that half the reason you used my reproductive services instead of IVF, so she could see what having sex with a regular guy was like again, nudge her out the door without telling her to leave?"

Nick didn't respond.

"Your silence is an answer, Nick. You're ex-military, Nick. Do you believe in teamwork."

"Of course."

"Do you put your best soldier on point, or your worst?"

"The best one."

"Do you put your best shot on overwatch, or your worst."

"The best."

"Does that mean the other soldiers on your unit are without value, that they have no purpose?"

"No, you need them all. Every man."

"Every fucking man, even the worst, has value to the whole. Am I right?"

"You're right."

"You've been dealt a whole shitload of crappy cards, Nick, and you've lost a few pots, but you're not out of the game. You've got money left. You've not only got money left, but you have friends, and family, and a wife, who'll give you more. You were ready to go all in on shitty cards. Nora has been holding things together because you've decided to cash out. Every man, even the worst, has value to the whole team."

"I can't even get a job typing. I'm fucking useless."

"They've got this wonderful thing, Nick, called technology. Do you realize that you can dictate shit now and it gets written down for you? Your brain is still functioning, right? Laura's husband is a lawyer. Heaven knows this country doesn't need any more lawyers, but there's no reason you can't study law, or engineering, or business. I'll grant you probably can't dig ditches with a pickaxe and shovel anymore, but those jobs never paid that well anyway. The jobs requiring brains pay more because brains are harder to find. Just as there are a lot of functioning dicks out there, but only a percentage that would make good husbands and fathers. Most women would take a good husband and father over a functioning dick. Ask Jeri. She had a functioning dick and she needed a husband."

"Jeri is your ex-wife?"

"Yes, and I was a shitty husband, and would be a shitty father, because I don't set a good example for children. I like to fuck other men's wives, Nick. Not a good talent to train your sons in. Your wife is going to have a baby, whether you gave it to her or not. She needs a team, Nick. She can't take care of two babies. She needs her partner, the one who promised for better or worse, to help her. And if you decide to have another one, you call in another member of the team to get the job done. Whether it's me, some friend, an army brother, or fucking IVF, makes no difference, because Nora has got what she needs from the main member of her team, and that's you. Comprende?"

Nick nodded.

"Now if I were you, I'd take my wife back to the bedroom and make sweet love to her, because she's sick of fucking some relative stranger, who's only value is pumping sperm. Then, you sit down with your family and decide what to do with the rest of your life, because right now, you're just wasting it. We hid all your guns and most of the other potential weapons in your house. Your Dad can show you where everything is and help you put it back. If you need any help with anything, let me know. I have connections everywhere. I think I need to see a doctor, seriously, I think I have a cracked rib. That's really going to screw up my workouts."

Nick finally laughed. "Good bye, Brick."

"Goodbye, Nick. Nora, it was a pleasure meeting you. I hope you find everything you're looking for in life, even if it includes this one armed, nutless killer."

Nora was clinging to Nick's arm. "It does. Thank you for everything."

"You're welcome."

"Can I walk you to your car, Brick," Josef said.

"Please, I might need to lean on you."

We left, then he asked, "Are you really hurt, or was that for Nick's benefit?"

"Oh, I'm hurt. I never got tackled that hard on a football field, and I had pads on then. I'm heading in for x-rays."

"I can pay for that."

"You do realize I have more money than most third world countries, don't you. My friends call me Brick. My real name is Bryce."

"Bryce Harmon. I should have let you pay for dinner last night when you asked. He would have killed you."

"Well aware. I was hoping he would have done something before Nora got in the way."

"Yes, it took him far longer than it should have. Nice speech by the way."

"I've started and sold three companies, bought a fourth recently. That's what the deal was last night in the restaurant. Jack is going to run it for me until it's more successful and I can make more money by selling it off. I know a little something about leadership."

"Yes, you do. When you said you were sleeping with Nora, I was ready to hate you."

"I know that would be a hard thing to hear."

"Still, you didn't shy away from it."

"If I felt too guilty for doing it, I shouldn't be doing it in the first place."

Josef chuckled. "I suppose not. Is it just married women you have sex with?"

"I'm an unrepentant Casanova, a Don Juan. The only women I didn't have sex with, were the married ones, at least the ones with wedding bands on their fingers. Then I met Laura's husband. He's a willing cuckold, a man who likes other men to have sex with his wife. I had a hard time believing it, but it was true. Laura never wanted to, and resisted doing so for the first eight years of their marriage.

"Then, they found out he was infertile, and she was finally convinced to have sex with other men. Once my marriage ended, I didn't think I'd ever have children, because I'm not marriageable material and kids should be raised in families. Running across Laura, made me realize it was still possible, if other people raised them. So, I've started looking at couples where the husband can't produce children, such as Laura's and Nora's, and relationships where the husband is a willing cuckold and wants other men to breed their wife, despite not having fertility issues. There are more than you think.

"The next woman I plan to breed hasn't had a child with her own husband, and she has two. He's been locked in a cock cage for the last eight years of his marriage, not having penetrative sex once in that time. As far as I can tell, he's a happy man despite that. So now, I do have sex with married women, but only with the husband's full consent. If I didn't have Nick's, I never would have had sex with Nora. I'm not that big of a shitheel. He wanted three days. He got three days. Unless he wants me to give him another child, I won't mess with their lives in the slightest. I won't ever have sex with Nora again."

"You're still having sex with Laura though?"

"Phillip wants me to, and Laura likes the extramarital sex too much now. Better just me than having her pick up guys in a bar. It's under control that way, because Phillip wouldn't have tried controlling her either. He liked it too much. He's got a Mistress now who will help monitor their behavior, but they're both out of town. Hence, I'm looking after her."

"I ran across a few guys like that. Men who wanted other men to have sex with their wives. I never understood it."

"I don't really understand it, because for most of those people, there's a humiliation and debasement aspect to it. I've never been particularly jealous of my sexual partners, because I wasn't faithful to any of them, so I wouldn't be particularly concerned if any of them fucked other people as long as they took safety precautions, but I wouldn't go for the humiliation. I don't understand the guy who hasn't fucked his wife in eight years. I can't go without fucking someone for a couple days, let alone eight years. Him, I really don't understand. I understand Nick. He just wants Nora to have children, and he can't give her one. Granted, it's stranger that he'd pick another man for her instead of in vitro fertilization, but he also felt sorry she couldn't have 'normal' sex, so I get it. He loves Nora so much, he's willing to surrender something that precious so she can enjoy it. By the way, once Nora comes to term, I intend to set up an educational trust fund for the child. I'll probably insure both of them in each other's name so they'll have financial means if either dies, so the child doesn't lack for things."

"Well, I'll let you get to the doctor. It's actually been somewhat of a pleasure meeting you."

"Take care, Mr. Wallensky. If you think Nick or Nora need help with anything, let me know."

He stuck out his hand and I shook it. I called Rodney and Tracy and let them know I'd be a day late as I probably broke my ribs and was heading to the doctor, and I'd be bringing Laura with me. I called Laura and told her I'd be late getting home, and to pack for a trip to Tacoma, planning on staying at least a week. I reminded her there were kids in the home and she may need to dress appropriately for them. I called Jeri and left a message which said the plan to help Nick seemed to have worked, but Nick probably gave me cracked ribs, and then I went to an Urgent Care.

Sure enough, I had a cracked rib. There was nothing they could do about it but give me ibuprofen and tell me to be careful. Like I said, going to screw up my workout routine.

******

Laura fussed over me when I got back, and fucked me cowgirl and reverse cowgirl so I didn't have to exert myself. She rode me for an hour. Laura packed a couple weeks worth of clothes for me. I was leaving the rest of my stuff there until I could have movers take it. Particularly, the exercise gear, which I had no way to get to Tacoma in my Taycan. When Roxanne and Phillip got back and Laura returned, I'd send movers so they didn't take their stuff by accident.

Jeri called me at the end of the day to check on the extent of my injuries. I said it was one cracked rib and told her what had happened and what I told Nick after he kicked my ass.

"Damn, Brick. I think you could do this psych shit almost as well as I do."

"Josef seemed to forgive me for fucking his son's wife. He thanked me for taking the risk of helping Nick, and asked about what I was doing."

"What did he think about it?"

"He didn't seem all that shocked. He'd run up against cuckolds himself, so knew they were out in the wild. I guess he figured if I was fucking a wife with the husband's permission, and everyone seemed happy with the arrangement, it wasn't that big a deal."

"I'm glad you weren't hurt worse."

"Me too. He was about to stomp my face in."

"There would have gone your thuggish good looks."

"Might have added a little more character."
