INTRODUCTION

In the world of Literotica, the "In a World" series averages out as a "loving wives" story.

The narrative plays out over several chapters and the story is still being written. It doesn't move fast, so if you're looking for a quickie - and those are great - this isn't the story you need right now.

When you've got the time to pour yourself a drink, that'll be a good time for "In a World."

This series takes the time to develop the characters. It explores complex, kinky situations and otherwise raises the emotional stakes by sprinkling in just a touch of reality. We examine romantic notions and preconceptions. The characters experiment with accepting associated expectations, fulfilling them and sometimes rising beyond them.

Make no mistake, though: this is not a Hallmark Movie of the Week.

WARNING: CONTENTS UNDER PRESSURE

This series features explicit sex.

It seems a little obvious to have to say that, especially given that you've willfully navigated to read this at a literary erotica website, but we're saying it anyway. Let's be honest, though: we've reached a stage in society where we have to put a "Do Not Eat" label on spermicidal jelly. Still, be forewarned: it should not come as a shock that there are graphic descriptions with the narrator's personal reactions.

Please note that there are also a variety of other paraphilias and moral hazards. These include, but are not limited to; exhibitionism, indecent exposure, voyeurism, lewd and lascivious conduct, the amateur production and compulsive consumption of pornography, candaulism, troilism, passive domination and active submission, a touch of humiliation, grossly inappropriate but consensual workplace behavior, the deluxe Group Sex Variety Pack, a blatant disregard for safe sex, jaywalking, unsafe driving, exceeding speed limits, high saturated fat and dangerous levels of salt.

You may get wet on this ride.

LITEROTICA'S VERSION OF "LOVING WIVES"

One could be forgiven the mistake of assuming that a story in the "loving wives" category would actually focus on and feature a married and monogamous woman. This is not that story.

By "loving wives," we lovingly mean the Literotica version: women who practice extra-curricular activity that triggers prude-patrol snowflakes who reserve their jollies for anonymous attacks in the comments section.

If you've read a story or two in "Loving Wives," you know the self-loathing, closeted mutant chickens ("Cuck! Cuck! Cuck!") that I'm talking about.

There is cheating, but this is not a revenge story. These are passionate humans, so we touch on reactions and emotional reflexes, but this is not a cautionary tale about getting even.

If righteous indignation over fornication, promiscuity, adultery or infidelity is your thing, it would be wise to save your time. Really: you're going to have to wade through a ton of character-building and scene-setting before you reach the juicy, salacious parts.

Now, for the habitual crusader who must target our moral turpitude, we're leaving the comments on just for you. Your fowl ejaculations in the comments section (see: "chickens," above) are a wonderful Rorschach test and a clinical-quality demonstration of transference and projection. For what it's worth, we welcome your editorial contribution.

WHEN IT GETS UNSEXY

On a few rare occasions, this story touches on painful subjects that affect sexual identity and capacity. This includes physical, psychological and social harassment and abuse, and an acknowledgment of victimization.

We don't glorify inflicting that damage, but we're also not a textbook for avoidance and recovery. If you saw that list in the warnings section (also above), you probably have an inkling of some of the things this section is talking about.

Consider that these damaged characters will take a different, aggressively sex-positive path in their journey of self-empowerment, intimacy and healing. If you're into communication between characters, especially over fetishized subjects that are usually taboo at the dinner table, this might be for you.

NARRATIVE PERSPECTIVE

This is a first-person story told from his point of view.

The narrator is an island of non-judgmental cis-normative perspective happily enjoying vanilla kink in an otherwise neurotically repressed world. He's a bit of a square and remains true to himself in that regard.

This isn't to say that LGBTQ+ characters are excluded from this tale - they're just not in the center ring of this circus. No matter what end of the sexual spectrum you're on, we invite you to join us, though as with all things, your mileage may vary.

CHAPTER PROGRESSION

Each chapter builds the characters a little more. Their interactions introduce us to their background, influences and motivations. Each chapter, then, becomes the foundation for the next.

However, given the episodic nature of these uploads, we'll often circle back and drop in a reminder of some previous plot point, just so the current context makes sense (especially if the reader has joined the series in-progress). Those reminders aren't quite as obvious as "In Our Last Episode..." but you'll definitely know them when you see them.

If you wait and binge-read later, we ask for your patience and offer our humblest apologies on any minor redundancies redundancies.

PLAYING ON YOUR SENSE OF ANTICI...

Finally, I'm more of a linguist than a grammarian.

When people talk about sex, and they're not giving a deposition, they tend to pause a lot - usually because there's a lot of emotion and innuendo there. My dialogue tries to glimpse the thoughts behind the words. This translates as a liberal use of ellipses ("...").

Don't read this if you have an allergy to Ellipses®. Please check with your doctor to see if naturalistic speech is right for you.

Also: pation.

AN OUTTRO FOR THE INTRO

Okay. I'm strapped in, got a pot of tea and I'm ready to rock and roll. You've successfully alerted the hypersensitive trolls that there's a target rich environment on the horizon. Let the good times roll!

This intro is a bit like putting out corn for the deer where you are planning to shoot them come hunting season, but It's nice to see that it's working.

A welcome return.

You're back! I'd given up hope of seeing you around again. The Sketches series is absolutely some of my favourite stories on Lit. I'll get through this series in the meantime, but I wish you could go back and do more with that couple.

Ha ha ha.

Yes I too read the chip shots some readers take at this category. Oh well. Oh hell. I read for the enjoyment and prefer writers take the word, "that," out of their work. Everybody is a critic.

I like your forward. Hope the writing follows true to the intro.

Thanks for sharing.

@Anonymous HA!, I'm well aware that there are willing cuckolds, but far too many of the cuckold stories in LW involve a husband who ISN'T willing, is humiliated, and forced into it in some way. How is not liking non-consensual sex make me a prude? I enjoy a well-written sex scene - is that prudish?

What do you know about what I think are consequences? There are all sorts of consequences, they may even result in a reconciliation! The consequence of a one-time drunken slip won't be the same as for a long-time affair where the husband unknowingly raised the lover's child.

Look at what? My comment had nothing like what you described, you made that up out of whole cloth.
