In the meantime, she would place a direct order with the Steinway factory in Hamburg, Germany to produce the finest state of the art concert grand piano to be delivered to the apartment. She intimated that the piano would be a gift to Ingrid. Once Ingrid had established a permanent residence, she would ship it to that location.

Ingrid was overwhelmed in gratitude of Mistress Denna's generosity. It reinforced a self-evident maxim, that it is better to be rich than to be poor. After examining all the vehicles on display that were available for immediate delivery, Ingrid fell in love with a luxurious convertible roadster that was fully loaded with all conceivable options. Sigmund winced as that particular model was very popular, and the mark up price on it was well above average. It would have fetched a substantial profit for the company as well as a substantial commission for the successful salesman. But he knew his sister would demand to pay no more than the factory price, and he would consider himself lucky to even get that. As it was after some fierce haggling, Sigmund agreed to a price of 10,000 euros below what the company was on the hook to pay to BMW,

He sighed as he realized blood was thicker than water. Besides as he understood the circumstances, Ingrid would only have the use of the vehicle for no more than a year. At that point Siggy would be forced to return the car possibly along with her current car as trade ins for a new vehicle. He knew that Siggy wouldn't dare try to realize a profit by trying to subsequently sell the car privately at a profit. Aside from the betrayal inherent of such action, Siggy would surely know that it would forever end her perk in obtaining luxurious motor vehicles from him on the cheap. Therefore, Siggy when she returned this vehicle would not be in a position to demand a higher price than what she had paid for it in the first instance. So, as he reasoned at that time, he would be able to realize a profit after all on this motor vehicle.

Since Mistress Denna was demanding a deep discount in acquiring this luxury car for Ingrid, it was not feasible to negotiate a legitimate leasing contract. Consequently, Sieglinde Wagner became the owner of the car that Ingrid would drive for the remainder of her time in Vienna. As for her part, Ingrid was not privy to the negotiations between the brother and sister, so she was oblivious to the financial arrangements of how she now had the use of a motor vehicle. All she knew was that her car was listed at price in excess of 90,000 euros, and she couldn't be happier as a result. 'Oh yes,' she thought in repetition, 'if I'm going to have a lesbian affair, it surely is a good thing that my partner is rich.'

After Ingrid had acquired possession of the BMW roadster, she parted company with Mistress Denna. In her brand new vehicle, Ingrid drove to her flat. The key also was able to unlock the only door in the apartment that provided access to the building's common use fire escape.

Having completed the physical transfer of her belongings, Ingrid returned to her former flat to confront Sabine Wachtmeister and advise her of the new reality. The latter arrived shortly after Ingrid had returned and was certainly surprised at Ingrid's abrupt decision to back out of their shared rental arrangement. She was mollified by the generous offer to compensate for the sudden vacancy. In accepting the proffered check, Sabine said, "This is very generous of you, or should I say of your new roommate. We are tenants at will without any stipulated term of a lease. I'm sure I'll be able to acquire a suitable replacement within a week. Of course, I'm not foolish enough to return any of the monies I'll save should I succeed in finding a new cotenant as quickly as I envision. Nor do I apprehend that neither you nor your new roommate expect that I'll be willing to reimburse you for monies not needed. In fact, you probably don't care one way or the other so long as I'm out of your hair."

Ingrid replied, "That's quite right Sabine. The point is that even you concede that you should be able to find a new roommate soon, and certainly within two months to help defray the cost of the rental of this flat. If you do not obtain a new roommate before September, then that deficiency is on you and neither Sieglinde nor I will feel guilty as a result."

Sabine said, "I would say that since you and this Sieglinde, your new roommate, are so anxious for you to leave, and both of are more generous than you need to be, then there must be a romantic involvement. And I thought you're straight. You sure did not make any advances towards me.

Ingrid frostily replied, "I don't think it's any of your business concerning my love interests. Anyway, good luck to you. I'm leaving. Auf Wiedersehen."

He had actually placed second to Ingrid in that Tchaikovsky competition, and was only a few years older than her. As the entire country was overcome with national pride for the international recognition of his accomplishments, the government placed an order to Steinway to produce the best concert piano they've ever made.

The idea was to present the gifted pianist with the piano as a thank you for bringing international renown to their otherwise considered insignificant country. Unfortunately, Boryslav Mandychevsky was unprepared and did not know how to handle his sudden international celebrity status. As he was giving concert performances throughout Germany, he fell in with a fast, profligate crowd who were heavy into alcohol, drugs and promiscuous sex. Thereupon, he became addicted to a desolate lifestyle which caused him to spiral out of control.

Soon his penchant for loose living inevitably caused salacious public scandals to sully his reputation throughout Europe. Even worse, he became incapable of producing a decent concert performance. Now embarrassed by the exposed public depravity of the once promising young classical music star, the government cancelled their order with Steinway the day before Mistress Denna placed her order. In the minds of the DGG executives, they surmised her reputation gained from winning the Tchaikovsky International competition, as well as the Beethoven Piano competition did not necessarily guarantee future success, but coupled with her pulchritude, success would be more certain.
