I get a little of the Noir detective vibe from this. Throw in a pack of Lucky Strikes and the lady utter, "We're just no good for each other," and it's there.

An enjoyable read.

In my late twenties I knew a woman like that. We had a great time in bed. Before and afterwards But everything else was a mess. After our initial breakup we kept running into each other for the next two years. Finally she married a doctor. I wa invite to the wedding but couldn’t make it. I had commitments to Uncle Sam to fulfill.
