TONSTAR MILITARY

The standard military structure of the Kingdom of Tonstar is built around platoons which are composed of three squads, each with a specialization. Total troop count listed is considered full strength but varies among the existing units.

Squad A - Armswomen - 10 women armed with standard issue short swords or sabers, spears, and shields. Some also carry crossbows for any ranged work they find themselves in.

Squad B - Archers - 10 women armed with shortbows, sometimes longbows depending on conditions, with issued axes and shields for when stuck in melee combat.

Squad C - Mages - 10 women with magical ability, normally low level spellwork capability. It is rare for a mage to attain proficiency for area of effect or the more damaging spells before their term of service expires. Battle mages with that ability that resign for more terms of service are normally kept in one of the division level Mage Companies and temporarily assigned to other battalions on an as needed basis.

Each Squad is led by 1 Sergeant.

Each Platoon is assigned a 2nd or 1st Lieutenant in command with a Staff Sergeant XO and a Sergeant in support.

A full Company is composed of three platoons. Each company has a command staff of a Captain in overall command, her XO, normally a 1st Lieutenant, a First Sergeant for support staff, a Gunner Sergeant responsible for training, and a Master Sergeant responsible for provisions and supplies. Often Captains will retain several lower ranked non-officer ranked individuals as runners and support staff.

A full Battalion is composed of four companies, three regular companies and a healer/support company which lends platoons out as needed in support of the three regular companies. A Battalion's command structure is normally a Lieutenant Colonel in command, a Major as XO, with two Captains as support staff with several runners and other lower ranked support.

A full Regiment is composed of three Battalions and a support Company. A regiment normally has a Colonel in command with a Lt Colonel as XO and various direct support staff.

A full Division is composed of three Regiments, a Mage Company, and a support Company. A Division normally has a Major General in overall command with a Captain General as XO with various direct support staff.

An army will only be composed of enough Divisions to fulfill its needs and will vary in size. Normally an Army only comes into existence when a general action, like a war, is fought and only on rare occasions will more than one army be fielded at a time. Armies are led by either a General or Lt General in command with a Major General as XO

Squad: 10 regular | 1 command | 11 total

WORLD OF TRESOLMAR

The planet of Tresolmar takes 668 days to rotate around sol. The human standard calendar breaks these days into 11 months of 60 days, each broken into 6 ten day weeks called a Tenday. Each day consists of 24 hours, each of which is 60 minutes, each of which is 60 seconds set to Earth standards. To make up for the difference in rotation speed, a 'witching hour' of 39 minutes occurs every evening between 11:59 PM and 12:00 AM

THE DIVINE

Religious Scholars have charted the Twelve Aspects of Life as taught to them from the various clergy that were willing to discuss their philosophy, and derived from the actions of those that would not. The Aspects consists of 6 sets of polar opposites, each with a Ruling Aspect and five lesser Aspects. The visual representation of the Twelve is normally on a dodecahedron or a flattened version of one. If each Aspect is placed on one of the 12 sides and its opposition placed on the opposing face then numbered, the sum total of the numbers for every opposition is 13. Thirteen is therefore considered a special number by nearly every culture having some significance in relation to the Gods whether as a good or bad omen.

ASTRONOMY

There are two moons orbiting Tresolmar. The cosmological origin of the moons being they are trapped bodies that fell into the orbit of Tresolmar and could not escape. This led to the larger moon being closer to the planet with the smaller much further away and a much slower orbit.

Phanos, the larger moon, oblong and rough in shape is in a close orbit to the planet. Even though small in physical size it has a quick orbit revolving around the planet once every 11 hours. Observers at the poles or very high or low latitudes may not be able to see Phanos because of this low orbit. When at the equator, close to the line of orbit, Phanos will appear smaller when rising, increasing in visual appearance to twice that size when overhead then continuing to shrink until it sets.

Dumue, the smaller of the two, is further distant from the planet and appears as a very small, dim ball. It orbits once every 30 hours and will be seen in the sky for at least half a day depending on the latitude of the observer. Since neither moon is great in mass, the gravitational effect on the waters of the planet are very small creating tides of around 1 foot difference between ebb and flood tide while high and low tide can be measured in inches.

LEXICON

AGR - After the Great Rendering. Used to designate the year after the cataclysm.

Ascension - In 233 AGR the Night of Ascension was a series of events that saw 20 people of various races who best represented a mixture of the twelve primary aspects of life began their ascent to Godhood, called the Divine.

Change - On every human child's seventh nameday, (approx 14 earth years) puberty begins. Part of puberty is when a Change, sometimes called a Curse, can be read through divination. The Change is a non-human race and can have multiple effects on a human. At the most benign, a person's Change never presents itself. At the most extreme, on a child's tenth nameday they may lose their humanity and fully take on the form of the Change race. If the Change does not take place, the Change race can still manifest in the physical appearance and mental attitude of a child to the point of becoming a half-human half-changed.

Divine - See Ascension

EGR - Early Great Rendering. Used to designate the years before the cataclysm.

The Great Cataclysm - A large meteor impacts Tresolmar between Upper Kesh and Solumni causing world wide destruction for the surface dwellers, massive cave-ins for underground dwellers, and major navigation channel changes for ocean dwellers. Thirteen years of substantial global cooling, famine, and conflicts over food erupt across the globe. Most inhabitants of Lower Kesh, southern Upper Kesh, and the immediate Savannah lands perished. Magical mutations greatly accelerate across the globe seeing the rise of many new species, most notably the rise of the Dragonborn race from the Lizardfolk. The explosion also weakens the planar barrier introducing the Celestials and new races of Tieflings, Aasimar, and others.

The Great Rending - The world of Tresolmar is forever altered when a catastrophic explosion destroys the planetary capital. Years of ecological disasters followed including the receding or disappearance of the great oceans, emergence of magic, collapse of society, and all other manner of ill befall humanity.

Talent - On every human child's fourth nameday (approx 8 earth years) the professions they are destined for can be read through divination. Common professions are Warrior, Priest, Rogue, Mage, Druid, Bard, and Monk. Further specialization can occur when training begins with more defined classifications. Warriors can become Paladins, Rangers, Barbarians, etc.

Tresolmar - Name for the planet/world. Derivative of Three Sons of Mars.

I like having this for reference, but maybe this belongs with the maps as reference info?

I normally start on the first post in a collection, but this should kind of be skipped for first time readers.

I will keep updating this through the Jebidiah books. There may be times that the roster may contain some spoilers if the update happens before a chapter release. It takes several weeks between when an update is submitted until it publishes. Unfortunately, I have no way of coordinating it.
