You are a marvel, Pixiehoff. You manage to combine historical fact with your own fiction, laced with humour and a great big dollop of eroticism. I'm hooked on this saga. What a pity I can only give it 5 stars. It deserves so much more.
So Miss Jagger gave birth to a son called Michael. Oh, what a song he will end up singing, something about having some Sympathy for the Devil. But of course, he may not be the Michael Phillip Jagger the musician, as he wasn't born until July 1943.
Some interesting turns and twists.
As always a fantastic read.
5 more stars.
Dr beulahthemick; Oh Pixie, you are a marvel, what an episode, you have managed to include in just a single episode the history of 1940, with real people, the drama of a difficult birth, eroticism and personal sadness. One word brilliant, I can't wait for more, what is there to say 5 stars, just wish I could give more. My daughter and her wife have informed various members of staff at their hospital about your work, with predictable results, you have quite a few new readers, who just love your stories.
Wonderful my darling, as always. A wonderful and terrible time to have lived. Joy and sorrow but I suppose it is always the way, yet hope and love survive to triumph in the end. xxx
So much to ponder and enjoy in this short piece. The joy of birth and loving relations in a troubled time. At the same time, as you say, “[I]n times of change, people clung more tightly to their certainties.” So true today for us in the States. Prejudices survive.
What a marvellous chapter, Pixie, very touching and yet grim in parts. While reading, I was composing the next part of Olivia Mellors' diary but the death of Pixie's father decided me this was no time for levity no matter how gentle. There is so much to comment on in this chapter. I did have a smile at the birth doctor's attitude: "Born out of wedlock, tut, tut..." but "A high-ranking American official you say? well, that makes all the difference of course." Pixie's mother would have been a Victorian and many of them would not have been noted for their unbending charity. I had a great-aunt who was like that in age and attitude if not class (God, she was a tough old boot, scared the crap out of me when I was a boy). I was going to comment on Michael Jagger but Bobbi beat me to it. The baby couldn't be the Michael Jagger because that one is three years younger than me. A worthwhile piece of work, Pixie dear---as they say in showbiz, "Follow that!"
Thank you so much, Olwen, I am delighted that you are so pleased xxxxx
Thank you. Bobbi, well I hope a little elasticity with historical facts might be allowed - you can't always get what you want, but you may get what you need xxxxx
Oh, dear Dr beulah, thank you, and I am glad that you and my new audience like what I am writing xxxxx
Thank you MamaS. As Gandalf told Frodo, no one wants to live in such times, but what matters, if you do, is how you behave xxxxx
Thank you Maonaigh - well, as I told Bobbi, I hope a little economy with the actualité might be allowed. I am so glad you enjoyed it xxxxx
A thoroughly enjoyable read with the drama of the highs and lows of birth and death. Very well written and all with a touch of spice thrown in.

God was in his heaven and Lady Pixie was in hers; And I am in mine every time I get to enjoy another Pixiehoff submission. There are so many competing streams of narrative in this piece, and yet Pixiehoff, through her skill as a master wordsmith, manages to effortlessly merge them into one coherent flowing river of literary gold. I can't wait to see where the story goes from here. 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
Many people think that their convictions, certainties, prejudices etc are founded on the Good Book. It says, amongst many other things, that in the midst of life, we are in death.
From your writing, Darling Pixie, I discover that in the midst of war we can find peace.
Thank you so much
xxxxx

Thank you so much, Wolfie - I am never quite happy until I see your comments xxxxx
This line is pure poetry in so many ways.. " No one who was unkind to her was ever forgiven; no one who showed her love was ever forgotten". So very true Pixie, the same can be said of #LoveNotHate .
As always a well written blend of history, diplomacy, politics and of course.. love and your delightful, thought provoking sexual encounters * smiles * .
