He let out a sigh of a disappointment as he felt Liam pull away with a face that looked like it was trying to make sense of the situation. Caleb reached across the table, reading that it was his mom.
"I'd better take this- she probably just remembered that today was my birthday" He said with a fake smile.
Liam's eyes danced around Caleb's face, trying to avoid his gaze. He looked out to the back patio and back, "Uh yeah of course. I just- I need some air."
The older boy stood up and walked away as Caleb accepted the call, watching him take a seat on one of the outdoor chairs. He hoped he hadn't made a mistake.
