and I think this storyline is intriguing. I liked this line "Lana could feel the muscles in her face go slack. Her brain recommended flight, but her body felt terribly heavy. She sat like weathered rock, just offshore of a warm beach, forever waves of salty chill washing over her." I would love to read more from you. Perhaps?

Aching, poignant, healing! I became so caught up in the flow of your words. They had a poetic quality to them. Beautiful! Please post more stories :)
