In a moment of self-realisation I understood that this was because Penny had never been into me as much as I'd been into her, or she'd never have been able to monkey branch from me to Dave Rogers.

The courtship between Carys and myself was slow, warm and loving.

I had found love late in life with a Welsh fireball. Were we simpatico, because we were both Welsh? Yeah, as daft as that sounds, I think there's an element of truth in that.

After a year of dating, we got married and we were talking of having children. Carys is teaching me Welsh, which is a long, but fun process.

We have moved to Mid Wales, she has taken up a partnership with a firm of solicitors in Machynlleth and I'll continue to run my consultancy from our four-bedroom house, which isn't far from the town centre. Oh, the talking about having children? That's changed to talking about what paint to buy for the nursery. Two months along at this point, and we couldn't be happier.
