"Amen," Walt said with him.

The two kissed.

"We'll need all the help we can get," Ethan said.

"As long as we're together, we can do it. I know that in my heart."

Ethan teared up at Walt's words. Walt held his lover. Shortly after, they went to their bed.

"How do you feel, baby?" Walt asked, his hand cupping Ethan's cheek.

"Amazing, but weird at the same time. I've wanted to be a parent my whole life, and we've been trying for so long it feels strange that it's actually going to happen."

"Believe it, Ethan. You'll be a mom soon enough."

They held each other.

"You know, Ethan, if you really want to be a mom, you need to get pregnant first."

The two of them experimented a bit more with kinks and roleplaying since that night eleven months prior.

"I need a big, strong man to impregnate me for that to happen."

Walt kissed Ethan's lips.

"Will you allow me to give you my seed? I'll put a baby in you if you want me to."

Ethan looked into Walt's eyes.

"Make love to me. Give me your seed. Make me a mother, Walt."

"As you wish."

After preparing Ethan's passage, Walt sat up and placed his husband in his lap, facing him.

"Ethan, darling, would you be the mother of my child?"

"Yes, Walt."

Ethan raised his hips so that the tip of Walt's member rested at his entrance. Slowly, gently, lovingly, Walt lowered his husband down until all of him was inside of Ethan. The smaller man moaned in pleasure. The 8-inch cock filled him up perfectly, like it was molded to fit inside of him just right.

The two of them made sweet, tender love, their arms wrapped around each other and their lips never parting for long. They moved slowly, sensually, wanting to make their joining last as long as possible. They could go hard and fast some other time.

"I love you, Walt."

"I love you, Ethan."

After a period of bliss that could have lasted minutes or hours, their climaxes started to near. Ethan hadn't touched himself once, but the internal stimulation made his dick deep red, dripping precome, and extended to its full 5 inches. A warmth had started at the base of his spine and had by then spread across his entire body. He needed release and he needed it desperately.

"I'm gonna come soon. Are you ready for my seed, Ethan?"

"Yes, Walt! Give me your seed! I wanna have your baby!"

A moment later, both men fell over the razor's edge. Walt came, shooting his essence deep into his love's body. Ethan held on for dear life as a powerful orgasm shook him to the core. In the release, he felt weightless, like his soul had left his body. He floated away until Walt's voice brought him back to earth.

"Baby?"

"Huh? Oh...sorry. I just got swept away for a moment."

The two kissed gently before they uncoupled. Walt spooned Ethan in his arms.

"Walt? I'm pregnant. It's a beautiful little boy. You're the father."

"That's wonderful, love. When's he due?"

"The doctor says he'll be with us on the 18th of September."

Walt kissed the nape of Ethan's neck.

"I can't wait."

*****

After a wait that felt even longer than the eleven months before it, the big day arrived. The two had briefly met with Dylan in the past, but this was the first time they would see each other after the adoption was made final.

As Walt drove to the shelter, he occasionally glanced over at his husband. Ethan didn't get much sleep the night before, and his nerves showed.

"Ethan, calm down. You love kids, and kids love you. You're gonna be a great mom."

"I sure hope so."

"Know so. I do."

They got to the foster center and waited anxiously. After what felt like forever, a worker led Dylan into the room.

"Dylan, meet your new foster parents!" she told him.

Dylan took in the sight of the two men in front of him. The bigger one was grinning, but the smaller one was starting to cry. Wow, he was crying a lot.

"What's wrong?" he asked. "Are you sad?"

The smaller one shook his head and smiled, still crying so hard his body shook.

"N-no, Dylan. I'm cr-crying because I'm s-so happy."

"Why would being happy make you cry?"

The bigger one walked up to Dylan and crouched down.

"Hello, Dylan. We've met before, but that was a while ago, before we knew we would be your new parents." He held out his hand that looked so big to Dylan. "My name is Walt, but I hope that one day you'll call me Dad."

Dylan shook Walt's hand. He looked at the other man, who seemed to have calmed down a bit.

"Who are you?"

The smaller one walked up and crouched like Walt did.

"I'm Ethan. I want to be your new mom."

Dylan frowned.

"You can't be my mom. You're a boy."

The man named Ethan smiled in a strange way.

"Well, usually, moms are girls, but me and Walt are both boys. Most of the time grown up men only marry grown up women, but sometimes, there are men who want to marry other men. Walt and I are like that."

Dylan tilted his head. "I'm confused."

Ethan made that weird smile again.

"It was confusing for us, too. The point is he'll be your new dad and I'll be your new mom. We love each other very much and we want you to be in our family. If you don't want to call us Mom and Dad yet, call us Ethan and Walt."

Dylan nodded. "Okay, Ethan."

"May I please give you a hug?"

"Sure."

They hugged, and Ethan started crying again. Dylan turned to Walt. "If he cries when he's happy what does he do when he's sad?"

Walt chuckled. "You'll have to get to know him to find out." He extended his hand. "Come on, Dylan. Let's take you to your new house."

*****

During the drive home, Walt and Ethan told Dylan more about themselves.

"Ethan and I both have jobs. I'm a firefighter and he's an elementary school teacher."

"You'll keep going to the school you've been going to. After the school day, you'll go to the YMCA for a bit and I'll pick you up and drive you home."

It was a lucky break that Dylan was already going to an elementary school different from the one Ethan worked at. It was protocol to keep things "don't ask, don't tell" with the kids, and having Dylan going to the school he taught at would make an awful lot of asking.

"Since I'm a fireman, I don't always leave for work and come home at the same time every day. Sometimes I'll be gone all day and sleep at the station, sometimes I'll stay home all day, even when you and Ethan are at school."

"Okay," Dylan said.

Ethan turned in his seat to face Dylan. "I'll be home when you're home. If you need anything, just ask your mom."

The boy nodded. He'd never heard of a boy being a mom before, but Ethan acted like all the other moms Dylan had met. He looked at Walt. Walt definitely looked like a dad.

They got back to Walt and Ethan's (and now Dylan's) house. Ethan made some sandwiches and the three of them ate lunch together.

"So, you're really a fireman?" Dylan asked Walt.

"Sure am."

"You've been in a firetruck before?"

Walt laughed. "How else do you think I get to the fires?"

Ethan looked at his husband and his new son interact with fondness. Dylan clearly already thought his new dad was awesome. What did he think of his new mom?

You can't be my mom. You're a boy.

A year prior, Ethan had made it one of his life's goals to prove that wrong.

Once they were done talking, Ethan held out his hand to Dylan.

"Let me show you to your new room."

*****

The rest of the day went well. They showed Dylan around the house, played with him, and watched a Disney movie with him. Dylan was a nice kid. He was sharp, too. Maybe a little bit too sharp, at least in Ethan's opinion. He questioned everything and spoke his mind. Ethan knew that Dylan would ask questions they couldn't answer.

That night, Ethan tucked Dylan into his new bed.

"I'll wake you up tomorrow so we can go to church."

"Okay, Ethan."

Ethan said a quick prayer, thanking God for Dylan before giving his new son a kiss on the forehead. He got up to leave and turned out the lights.

"No!"

Ethan froze. "What's wrong, Dylan?"

"I...I don't like being in the dark."

"Oh. Well, we'll get you a night light." He turned on the light in the hallway and opened the door a crack.

"Will that do for now?"

"I...I guess..."

Ethan walked back to the bed and sat on the floor next to it.

"I used to be scared of the dark, too. It's nothing to be ashamed of."

"I'm not scared, I just don't like it."

"Okay, Dylan. If there are other things you're afraid of or don't like, tell me or Walt about it. We want you to be happy."

"Okay, Ethan."

There was a pause.

"Do you think you're ready to go to sleep now?"

Dylan nodded. Ethan left, making sure the strip of light was still in the darkened room.

*****

Walt watched his husband walk in. He brushed his teeth, stripped to his underwear, and slid into bed next to his partner.

"Alright, that was day one of the rest of our lives. All things considered I think it went well."

"I guess."

Walt pulled Ethan into his arms.

"What's wrong, baby? Something's bothering you."

"It's nothing, it's just that he's grown to like you already. I can't tell what he thinks of me."

"He likes you. Why would you think otherwise?"

"I don't know..."

Walt sighed and turned Ethan around so they faced each other.

"Look, what's the one thing that Alexis, Ma, Papa, Mary, me, and anybody else with two brain cells to rub together have told you a thousand times?"

"It'll take time for a kid to except me as their mom."

"Exactly. This doesn't just happen. It's a process. You're doing fine; you just need to be patient. It's not like Dylan thinks of me as his dad already, I'm just the guy with the flashy job. You're the one who's going to spend more time with him. Once Dylan gets to know you better, he'll love you."

Ethan sighed. "I know all that. It's just that we've been waiting for so long. Now that it's happening, we only have one shot."

Walt kissed his lover.

"We'll get it right. I know we will." He flipped Ethan back over. "Now get some sleep."

Ethan snuggled into his husband's embrace and closed his eyes.

*****

Dylan was playing checkers at the Y with his friend Tommy the following Monday. It felt strange to think that he had a house and a family to go to after school. He liked the thought of it, though.

Dylan and Tommy had been friends since the first day of school. Tommy was excited when he heard that Dylan would go to the YMCA in the afternoons now.

They finished up their game (Tommy won), and Dylan saw Ethan walk in. He smiled.

"I have to go, Tommy. My mom's here to pick me up." It felt weird to call Ethan that, but none of the other kids called their parents by their first names. Dylan wanted to fit in.

"'Kay, see you tomorrow!"

"Bye!"

Tommy turned around and saw Dylan run up to a man he'd never seen before. Wait, Dylan said his mom was taking him home, didn't he? He'd have to ask Dylan about that later.

*****

Dylan liked car rides with Ethan. His car was nice and big. It could fit so many people.

"How was your day, Dylan?"

"Good. I got to play with Tommy at the Y."

"Is Tommy a new friend?"

"Yep!"

Ethan smiled. He felt like a real mom, taking his kid home from school.

"Hey, Ethan, can Tommy come over to our house sometime?"

Ethan's blood turned to ice. Get ahold of yourself, Ethan! You've prepared for this!

"I...sure. If his mommy says it's okay, he can come over."

Dylan smiled. Ethan was acting all weird for a second, but now he was back to normal.

Ethan's stupid brain started to imagine the worst-case scenario without permission.

Ethan, Tommy's mom says she won't let him come over because you and Walt are faggots. What does that mean?

Ethan shook his head. One thing he learned about being gay was that it was better to always assume the best in others, not the worst. Sure, he had it harder because of his sexuality, but that didn't mean the world was out to get him.

"Do you have any homework, Dylan?"

"A little."

"Well, the rule is that you do homework first when you get home. Just get it out of the way and have fun after. And if you need any help, ask me."

"Yes, Ethan."

Ethan felt himself relax a bit more. It felt so good to talk to Dylan, his son. He only knew the kid for a few days and he already loved him more than he thought possible. Did Dylan love him?

Stop doing that. Ethan's inner voice suddenly sounded like Walt. You're giving yourself a nosebleed over nothing.

Dylan noticed that Ethan was acting all weird again. It passed after a few seconds. Ethan was strange. He'd cry when he was happy and scrunched up his face for no reason. Walt said he should get to know him better.

"Why do you do that?"

"Do what?"

"You keep making weird faces, then stopping."

Ethan chuckled. He wasn't going to get anything past this kid.

"It's nothing bad. I just get worried sometimes. Okay, I worry a lot, but most of the things I fret over are me imagining things."

"Why would you make things up you don't like?"

"It's not like I want to, it just happens. I just need to ignore the things that I make up and focus on what's real."

Dylan paused. "I don't think I understand how your brain works,"

Ethan laughed. "That makes two of us. Let me tell you a secret about adults. We act like we have everything under control, but we usually don't. We're just doing the best we can. You should still mind your elders, but never stop asking questions."

"Okay, Ethan."

Dylan looked out the window. Ethan started to breathe easier.

*****

Walt drummed on the steering wheel impatiently as he drove home from the station. He had just finished a full 24-hour shift, 5 PM on Sunday to 5PM on Monday. He missed Ethan, and he missed Dylan. Thankfully, he just had a 10-hour shift the next day and all of Wednesday off.

He pulled into the driveway and whistled as he walked to the front door. He almost cried when he saw Dylan run up to greet his dad.

"Hi, Walt!"

Walt crouched down and patted Dylan on the head.

"Hey, Dylan. How's my favorite little tyke doing?"

"Great!"

They hugged. Walt sniffed the air.

"What's Mom cooking for dinner?"

"Spaghetti!"

Dylan scampered off and Walt walked to the kitchen to see his husband at the stove. All he needed was an apron and he'd be the perfect little housewife.

"Hey, baby."

Ethan turned and smiled.

"It's great to have you back, Walt."

They kissed.

As Ethan turned back around, Walt approached and hugged him from behind, wrapping his arms around Ethan's torso.

"It's great to be back, wifey. I missed you so much." Now Walt was whispering.

Ethan could have guessed that from the pressure he felt on the small of his back.

"Now, now. Don't call me 'wifey' if you expect me to put out," Ethan whispered, barely audible.

Walt kissed his husband again before going off to play with Dylan some more.

*****

After Dylan had been sent to bed Ethan and Walt stripped bare and got in bed together. Walt could tell that Ethan had had something on his mind all day.

"Okay, something's been bugging you, Ethan. Out with it."

Ethan sighed. "Dylan has a friend named Tommy and he asked me if he could come over to our house."

"What did you tell him?"

"I said if his friend's parents were fine with it, sure."

"That's what we agreed we'd say in this scenario. You're doing everything right, so calm down."

"That's easy for you to say. You're not the one who's going to have to explain to Tommy why Dylan has a man for a mom."

"You're the one who wanted to be his mom, Ethan. You signed up for this."

"I know, Walt." He calmed down a little.

Walt kissed his husband.

"I've been a bit jealous of Dylan. He had you to himself all day."

Ethan grinned. "Well, I'm yours now."

They kissed again, their hands wandering.

"I want you so bad, baby," Walt husked.

"We need to be quiet."

"Dylan's on the other side of the house. I'm here, and I need you now."

"Okay, then. Just bite your tongue and keep watch. Stop me if you hear Dylan."

Ethan slinked under the covers and began working on Walt with his mouth.

Walt suppressed a loud moan. Shit, keeping quiet was going to be difficult.

*****

Dylan and Tommy ate lunch together the next day.

"Hey," Tom said. "You said your mom was picking you up, but you left with a man yesterday."

"Yeah, my mom's a man." He knew he'd get new parents when he started first grade, so he didn't tell Tommy about living in the shelter.

"Boys can be moms?"

"Yep." Ethan made it sound simple, so Dylan figured it wasn't a big deal.

"What about your dad? Is your dad a girl?"

"Nope, he's a boy, too."

Tommy had never heard of a family like Dylan's.

"Anyway, Mom said you could come over if your parents say it's okay."

"That's great!"

They went back to eating their lunch and chatting amicably.

"We should give each other our phone numbers," Tommy said. "That way we can call each other and talk after school."

Dylan nodded. He would have to ask the teacher later what his new phone number was.

*****

Ethan opened the door and walked in to the YMCA. After scanning the crowd, he saw Dylan talking with a little boy with red hair.

That must be Tommy, Ethan thought.

Dylan was facing the door, so he saw Ethan walk in. He said something to Tommy and bounded over.

"Hi, Ethan!"

"Hi, Dylan. How was your day?"

"Good. I told Tommy to ask his parents if he can come over and visit."

Fuck. He'd hoped Dylan had forgotten about that.

"That's great. Did you, uh...tell him about me and Dad?"

"Yeah. He didn't know there were moms like you, though."

Fuck, fuck, fuck!

"We also gave each other our phone numbers. Tommy said he'll ask his mom and she'll call."

FUCK, FUCK, FUCK, FUCK, FUCK—

"Ethan, you're making weird faces again."

Ethan mentally slapped himself in the face.

"Sorry, just thinking about something else." He looked over at Tommy. He noticed Ethan and waved, smiling a crooked little grin. He looked like such a nice kid.

Ethan made himself smile. "Let's go, Dylan. I was thinking we could go out for pizza tonight."

"Thanks, Ethan!"

The walked to the car. Ethan didn't want to go home. The phone was at home.

Fuck...

*****

Ethan almost had a heart attack when the phone rang. He seriously considered not answering it, but he decided that delaying the inevitable was pointless. He picked up the phone and tried for a normal voice.

"Hello, this is Ethan Matthews."

"Hello, Ethan. This is Jennifer McMahon. I'm Tommy McMahon's mother."

Jennifer had a direct, no-bullshit voice, like a business woman.

Ethan tried his best to speak candidly.

"I'm Dylan Rodriguez's guardian. Me and my hu—" his voice caught for a split second. "Husband adopted Dylan recently."

There was a pause.

"Husband? So you two are queer?"

"Yes," Ethan almost squeaked. He held his breath. The following pause probably only lasted a second or two but felt like forever.

"Okay, just making sure. Tommy said that Dylan's mom and dad were both men."

Ethan couldn't hide his relief when he exhaled. "No, he does. I'm Dylan's new mom. I know it's strange, but we wanted to be as traditional in our parenting as we could."

"If you two were cleared to adopt I'm sure you're doing fine. We should arrange a playdate for Tommy and Dylan."

"Yeah, let's." Thank GOD. It seemed like Tommy's mother was an Alexis type, tough but fair.
