You write well, so I gave you 4 stars. Why not 5? It starts out with a long exposition which I don't think is necessary. And I expected much more complication/resistance from an 18 year old just about realizing he's gay amidst the world of sports. Just one night with another man and he's fully realized as a homosexual? I mean, come on. It would've been so much hotter to see him struggling more, no matter how clear headed he might be. It felt as though you wanted to pack everything at once without committing to make it make sense. The only reason I'm saying this is because I truly expected more from someone who seems to have a lot of knowledge and confidence in writing.
