Mum is the first word in the title, and for the foreseeable future it looks like she's not part of the story. Even if you return to her, it still doesn't seem that it would fit with the prominence suggested by the title. As it is, she wasn't part of most of the story so far.

Many facets of the boating part is just too unrealistic for me to be able to swollow this story.

But that goes more or less for the whole story, including the sexual relations between close relatives, it'is just too "easy". The story reminds me of a daydream or adventure.
