I didn’t like this because you had Mark almost beat Trey to death and resist arrest.

Another couple with an entitled wife and poor communication skills. In the US, with no kids, you can obtain a "No-fault" divorce and don't even have to appear in Court, let alone go to counseling. Unsatisfactory story given the fact that it seems completely unfinished.

The husband created his own problems, being wishy washy and sending her signals he was okay with things, instead of just being loud and clear. Who would go out of town, leaving their wife alone knowing there was a big issue and say, we'll talk when I get back?

Good story, pretty likely Mark would have been shot after the taser didn’t work. He got jail time for resisting arrest. Beating Trey or even killing him he would have got off. Looks like communication is not Kelly or Mark’s strong point.

I enjoyed the story but it was obvious it was going to crash and burn. She overlooked signs and risked things along. I love my wife being hit on by other men but never in my home. She should have kept the games at the bar, maybe disappear for a bit with the other man and tease her husband with what might have happened.

Go out to the car with the black guy and let her husband see them walking back in. Then tease him and see how he reacts.

There was a glaring lack of communication. Mark should have come right out with his honest feelings, instead of bowing to Kelly raising the stakes gradually. Kelly should have made her intentions known before Mark went on the trip. Trey should have sounded out Mark before getting in between a married couple. I also would have liked a little more development of the ending. After such a well written plot, I felt cheated of a little more reaction dialogue, and the spot for it would have been during the counseling sessions. But this isn’t a complaint, merely a suggestion for a 5* story!

Disappointed with the outcome, but real communication was not there. Mark was as much to fault as Kelly, maybe more.

And Trey presumed too much, and again, not enough proper communication by Kelly.

Honest open communication is so key to any relationship, especially when potentially stepping outside the bounds of a traditional relationship/marriage.

Way to bail on the ending

I understand now why it is a 3-3.5☆ instead of a 4-4.5☆ story. The character Kelly is as stupid and lacking in common sense as the proverbial screen door on a submarine. Mark's character is actually somewhat understandable.

I have known some big mild mannered guys who were willing to please people, in particular their wives. But they had what's called a long fuse. When they got pissed you knew it. They would also tell you how the cow ate the cabbage if they weren't enthused with something, so their fuse rarely had a chance of being lit. Mark was not like the guys I've known. He put up with way too much crap from Kelly and should have explained things to her before she ever took her show outside their bedroom.

I did find a reference which supports Rayjag1980's assertion. I also found a reference which stated that monogamous marriages had a 50% divorce rate but that open marriages carried a 38% divorce rate over the monogamous marriages. This could indicate that open marriage divorces are much more common. In addition, open marriages have a higher percentage of STDs, drug and alcohol use and abuse, depression, and jealousy (go figure).
