Talk about a shocker! I was just as confused as Laura, while she was trying to figure out what was going on; because the tempo, rhythm, pace, whatever of this chapter was so different; but it built anticipation for what was coming. The ending of this chapter made me feel like I was on a rollercoaster, at the top, just about to plunge down. You've gotten the feel of when to end a chapter, for the purpose of suspense, down pat.

Something about the image of a mother being caught enjoying her femeninity with a lover is a rocket for me. You have done a marvelous job writing this series and I look forward to your continuing it.
