A sweet story. My partner and I have had much more sex and it's been a lot more enjoyable being locked at home too.

another excellent story

I was so waiting, but hoping I was wrong, that there would be some cheating going on or maybe a confession about something from the past. This is a true romance and I am so happy for this couple. I really love your writing.

TajfaTajfaalmost 4 years ago

Just a lovely story about real love and good family. A welcome change from nasty characters who wouldn't know love like this if it hit them in the face.

DominantYetServile22DominantYetServile22almost 4 years ago

yes, yes nice story. But what is it doing in this section?

good story

good story, I liked it. I don't want to take your score down, so I won't rate it.

Holy crap. A well adjusted couple on loving wives.

You deserve 5 stars for the hubris alone.

The real score is for your lovely story.

Those aren’t tears

My eyes are leaking.

Excellent story. I was out of work for 2 weeks and found my wife and I getting closer as a result. I liked the gradual rebuilding of intimacy between the main characters.

Refreshing Story

Great story...this loving couple’s relationship improved over the course of a international pandemic in so many way, including some great sex.

Thx for sharing.

a needed piece of joy

Thank you sir for the loving and thoroughly enjoyable piece of prose. The line "two cotton balls wrapped together with fishing line" will stick in my head every time I saunter down to the beach next door here in Maine. Very well written and a needed lift for these times

Thank you for this

This is what a loving wife/husband tale should be like - about love.

Thank you for sharing your imagination and talent with us.

5/5

Just proves

Just proves that no one has to be hurt, man does not have to be a macho ex-military badass and a woman doesn't have to be a cheater for story to be very good. Very well written. I would love the fact that they were together but they weren't that they started headed in different directions the closeness had to bring them together. And they remembered what their lives were together. Sorry about the run ons. Please write more along this line.

Lovely! 5*****

I kept waiting for an ugly shoe to fall and it never happened. It was just a lovely story about a loving family with a happy ending. It couldn't be any better. Thanks.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 4 years ago
Still Aghast

Aghast at the number of journeys and physical social interactions the characters had. en famille on the beach, Michael Lori Steven Meg Gretchen and Kylee, all driven 50k from their homes. And they commute to and from the main house with alacrity, walk the dog daily (3km), shopping regularly, for groceries, Jewellery, bikini even.

Arrange builders to re-do some of the house, and dinner on a 3rd party boat.

But the laugh's on them,

"Over the last several weeks, that makes seven people. I'm sad ... "

Out of the hundred thousand corpses, they are close to seven of them.

Great Story...

I really think that the LW category should be split into True Spouses and Cheaters. This story was a fantastic TLS tale. Keep the good vibes going!

I loved this! A wonderful tale of two adrift souls reconnecting during a time of tragedy.

Good story

Wrong category. Romance or Non-erotic maybe? With no hanky panky this wasn't a loving wives story. But it was entertaining. I do think he made a mistake when he suggested his investments were in good shape. Not likely.

bigguy323bigguy323almost 4 years ago

Good story but in wrong category. IMHO SHOULD BE IN romance.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 4 years ago
Too easy of a 5.

Category? How about, Redemption?

Thanks for the effort.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 4 years ago
This should have been posted in the "Boring Bull Shit" category

Seriously, a total snooze.

BeBopper99BeBopper99almost 4 years ago

3* No Tension = Dull. Wrong category. I skipped a chunk of it looking for conflict. No go. Resubmit this to Romance.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 4 years ago
Dull

Wrong category. Nicely written but uninteresting.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 4 years ago

Not to be a category Nazi, but isn't this a Romance? There's no "extramarital fun," however you may define that,

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 4 years ago
It was okay

but I would have liked a little drama, maybe someone getting sick or something. As it was, there was too much about all their money. Upper middle class? Sounds more like they were in the upper 2 or 3% to me.

It was just too much about how well off they were and nothing about the struggles to get there.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 4 years ago
Yep a good story.

Thank you for taking the time to get it out.

HDVictory1HDVictory1almost 4 years ago
Liked it a lot

Nice positive spin on dealing with Safe at Home.

For the anonymous commenter that complains about the category. As Freud said, “Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar”. In this case sometimes a loving wife is just a loving wife.

Wolf_Man_1962Wolf_Man_1962almost 4 years ago
Good story but...

I liked the premise but a little East coast centric imo. I understand we are in a pandemic, but I also understand we are being manipulated by the media and those in power on both sides of the political spectrum. This story feeds into that narrative. I live in Texas pop 28.7M, in the 7th largest city in the US pop 3M. We've had 57 Covid19 deaths, 18 from one senior citizen home. 80% of our Covid19 fatalities are over 75 with underlying health conditions. I don't know anyone, who knows anyone, who knows anyone, who knows anyone, who has contracted Covid19. Yet our benevolent Dictator Mayor and County Commisioner insist we be treated like we live in NYC. The only death and destruction we are seeing is to our small business friends/neighbors and our local economy. This from an over 50 guy who has underlying health conditions and survived 2009 H1N1 while stationed in S. Korea with no mask or quarantine. I'm an essential worker and have been out and about through this entire shelter in place. Yes I follow the guidelines but from where I sit, this is pure fantasy, which is ok that's why it's called fiction. I still like the author and will read future posts. 3*

Wonderful - 5 stars

The best LW story in weeks. Wrong category? Who the f*ck cares, this was a truly loving wife (and husband). LW has so many variations, including couples who regain what was almost lost. Thanks for a nice tale to start the day.

A_BierceA_Biercealmost 4 years ago

How dare you?

You're diluting the squick factor in LW! With stuff like love and hope. Truth be told, it's probably as good for us as a vaccine against this <expletive deleted> virus-borne disease.

management91399management91399almost 4 years ago

This is a really great story and it really goes to illustrate the schism in our society where one family can actually thrive during a pandemic and re-acquaint a man and his wife. At the same time miles from the happy couple there is another couple wondering where the next meal is going to come from, they are waiting in line at the food bank, they have no internet so the kids can't go to school. This thing has really drawn a line in our country. And I fit that category, retired and moved a year before this, safe in a fairly remote area, access to food and great internet. I did have to move one of my kids back into the house because of this. But yeah what I'm saying detracts nothing from the story, it's a beautiful tale and it really is a testament to being positive, you have a guy who is with his former best friend and he takes logical and loving steps to make her his best friend again. AND she accepts which is also a beautiful thing, she sees the good in him and (And you know this is true) she ignores all the bad things that happened between the two of them over the years, she isn't re-living them with him, she's looking forward not back. And they know how to survive a pandemic. Well they also have the resources to survive a pandemic as long as society doesn't break down between now and the time they invent a vaccine because then a bunch of hungry people with torches will probably burn down that little love nest. (I know I know, I'm the "around every silver lining there is a dark cloud type of person!") But yes beautiful, I wish everyone had the opportunity, not just in fiction, in real life.

We have a very good story about a man and his "loving wife" and sure as you can count on the sun rise every morning. There is a tosser who has to comment about it being in the wrong category.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 4 years ago
Loved this

Despite the below comments, I thought this was a great story. It was nice to read a couple who realised they were in a rut and instead of the usual angst drama or some sort of cliche mid life crisis cheating storyline, they decided to work on their relationship and grow. 5 stars for me.

green117green117almost 4 years ago
What do you know...

A reality based story.

WRT social distancing - do you think I stay 6 feet away from my wife every morning? There are in groups and out groups, and you try to minimize contact with out group people.

Frankly, it seems only reasonable.

But what I want to know is how did the both let alone one of the, have lunch on a 32 inch boat? :)

Great story considering...

...Considering it was written for a contest and placed into the Loving Wives category. LOL. How dare you actually put a story about a "loving wife" in the LOVING WIVES category!!! lol Harry in VA, DominantYetServile22, bebopper along with numerous other anonymous "cucksters" are all shook that somehow you've infected their run of 1* stories. ;0) For those of us that actually hold out for the occasional 4+ story, thank you for your time and effort. Especially during this lockdown. ;0)

@HIV

Do you ever say anything nice?

Good story.

GeorgeAndersonGeorgeAndersonalmost 4 years ago
It's the attitude.

As others have pointed out, it's nice to have the money this couple does, and I do hope they showed the same consideration for their workers that they did for their family. What struck me most, however, was their attitude. They focused on what they could do, not on what they couldn't. They sought, found, and seized opportunities to nurture and improve their relationships. Those are things we can all do in this Year of the Virus, and I believe that was the point of the story.

Stay safe and well out there.

Damn This Covid

In just months I have lost a cousin closest in age to myself, one lifelong friend, my high school basketball coach, and the lady at my bank who used to handle my weekly deposits and banking business. And I honestly feel that a month long period of flu-like symptoms I endured may have been a mild case of Covid. There are some who will disagree with me, but I think it will be around well into 2021. Who else will I mourn their passing? I see several people whose health is obviously on a decline.

How unusual for this category to have a feel good story. And excellently written. Another rarity.

Thank you

This is a sweet tale with love and no conflict.

So full props there.

About half way through, I can’t help but think of the other 70%, who do not have huge inheritances, jobs one can do at home and the disposable wealth.

Their stories, stuck together with the looming specter of hunger standing over them is a lot tougher. They can’t experiment with new cooking techniques as I did as well.

There is a story there

Very distracting that it was listed LW. I kept waiting for the shoe to drop, i.e. one party has a ;over; that I didn't enjoy a good ROMANCE story.

Good luck in Florida as Florida has the biggest COVID-19 dying a year after this story was written. With the biggest dying month for Florida elderly in August 2021.

Some anticipation skills you have.

AnonymousAnonymousover 2 years ago

Nice feel good story, of a couple of people who kept their noses to the grindstone. One day, they figured out, it was time to get off the wheel. Someone made a comment, about 70% don’t have the resources these people did. You are missing the point. The point is, you do not have to continue you work yourself to death, after you turn 60. If you and your wife combine an income over $100,000, about 40% gets taken for federal/ state taxes, and Social security/ fica.

I have known a lot of older couples, who just downsize the house, and give up the rat race. Quality of life, needs to count for something. It took a pandemic, for these folks to realize, what could be possible, and they did it. Great story. I gave it 5 stars!

WillowghbyWillowghbyover 2 years ago
I Gotta Speak Out

DarkDonut implied in a recent comment that Florida was a pit of disease and death due, I presume, to their Covid related policies. Rather than simply listen to the talking heads on biased media, I chose to review CDC data as of yesterday's date.

While we have all heard of close or distant family and acquaintences who have succumbed to the bug, the true morbidity % is actually quite low. By state, morbidity (# of deaths divided by # of diagnosed cases) ranges from 0.16% to 0.22% across the USA states (yes, that is a fraction of one percent.) Many fellow Americans have suffered with severe cases, but we are not dealing with the apocalypse here folks. Any suffering or death are regrettable, yet they are factors of life.

Meanwhile, New York state has a higher morbidity rate than Florida despite harsher social interaction rules, not to mention higher average age of the population. We can also look at numbers related to the folks "voting with their feet." Net population outflow in NY and NYC, versus about 1000 per day net inflow for Florida. Shall we look at available statistics regarding comparative robustness of each state's economy? Can you guess which is booming?

Remember, numbers don't lie, but liars use numbers. Also, don't believe everything you hear on CNN or on Fox. To them, keeping you listening to their blathering is more important than presenting balanced facts.

Sorry to editorialize, but hey, DarkDonut started it...

"Love the One(s) Your With"

Did you mean "Love the One(s) You're With"?

AnonymousAnonymousover 2 years ago

Not bad, but kind of a blasé’ story of a family finding their future togetherness and confirming their love for each other. That is so needed by so many.

Otherwise the story wasn’t anything special and a bit drab.

Maybe every 254th LW story should be... nice. Positive. Harken back to times before ~ "alienation of affection" laws were removed from the books.
