if you are going to spout propaganda, at least get your facts right: "assault weapons" are highly regulated under the National Firearms Act as Class 3 weapons. ownership of one requires possession of an ATF tax stamp, and prior approval from local law enforcement.
additionally, since production of new Class 3 weapons for private ownership stopped in 1986, the supply is limited, and thus the sale price for one, assuming your state doesn't prohibit private ownership and that you CAN get approval from your local police agency or sheriff, will likely be well into the 5 figure range.
last time i looked, they had been actually used in crimes twice, once by a policeman.
