Surely, there could not be unforeseen consequences from programs developed in faculty lounges and Soros-funded, ideological think tanks? Yes those models have to discount any effects from unknown or variable "constants" to develop these models, but how likely is it that those unknowns would really have a major effect on the validity of the models?

The US version of the Greens would be all about curbing modern tech so Mother Earth could recover naturally the way it has been trying to during covid-19 shutdowns. Using still more tech to try to remake the planet would more of an Elon Musk kind of scheme.

I could so see this happening.

Either US political party would do it for different reasons.

Each lying, cheating and stealing their way to our destruction.

And so many many other countries would do it also.

Also of note we no longer can have a country do things alone of much magnitude as it affects everyone.

Oh yes, with our current US president on record at over 20,000 lies in just under 4 years, I can easily see this happening and the people being unaware. Shoot maybe there are survival bunkers the rich went to knowing this would happen, you know like they did with coronavirus and the billionaire bunkers in new zeland and elsewhere

Interesting and AOC prophetic story, but she killed her only other moon base companion and THEE only sperm source that might rekindle humanity (providing they had a vehicle to get back to Earth). Yet, she was so talented in hand-to-hand she chose to kill a drunk not incapacitate him - just a real dumb emotional move. Or did she want to live 100 yrs rather than 50 yrs all by herself?!? But if the moon base was only on top and not under the lunar surface/soil solar radiation will fry her in less than a decade anyway.

Being a HAM Radio operator myself I really liked this part of the story,. BUT for being on 2meters without directional antennas and damn big power amp - nope. To pick up a maybe 100W FM 2m earth station - not happening. But cute. I have talked thru LEO SATs w/50W FM omni mobile, but those SATs are <300 mi up, the moon is '225K' miles! Plus 2m EME is usually CW at +10KW directional ERP. dah-dit-dah-dit dah-dah-dit-dah
